Anybody ever dealt with newministuff.com?

Haven't posted here in a LONG time, so forgive me if this isn't in the right place. (Mods feel free to move if necessary)

I ordered about 1000 dollars worth of stuff from them a while ago. Was never contacted to be informed some things were on backorder. Emailed a couple weeks ago and they did reply to tell me a few things were backordered and they should be here shortly, haven't heard anything since and just emailed again for an update. Not necessarily complaining, I am just wondering if I should start to worry. Anybody have any experience with this company?

I've bought several things from mikey - proactive communication is NOT his strongest talent - but he knows his stuff, and so far he's delivered everything I've ordered, though sometimes it takes a little while. I think he assembles some of his stuff to order... I don't think there are any integrity issues - just sometimes gets backed up and doesn't proactively communicate it...

That is really good to know, thanks for the quick reply. As I said, he did return my first email promptly, so that was a good sign. Just been burned REALLY bad before dealing over the internet and was starting to get a little nervous. Thanks again!

I've ordered from Mikey several times. Reliable communication is not one of his strong points. I've had some responses within the same hour, and others that I've had to resend after a few days to get a reply. I get the feeling that he tries to respond right away, but if he didn't have an immediate reply ready, he doesn't go back to follow up on his older unanswered emails. Maybe he gets too much new incoming mail to keep up. If you don't get a response within 2-3 days, I recommend resending your e-mail. In summary though I've never had a problem with the actual sales transactions.

I ordered a set of euro spec tail lights, a safety triangle & a MINI first aid kit. They were here in my hands in less than a week. I didn't need to communicate with them. For my money they get....

I ordered the Orciari Cowl Scoops, He was able to get this special order sooner than any other online outfits that offered it, Roughly a month.
He also had the best price for them as well.
Along with that I got the clear back-up light and Jet Black Paint for the scoops.

It also depends on the type of products you are ordering from him.
If they are special orders they usualy tend to take some time.
When I ordered my Wilwood Big Break kit and my custom Grille from MiniMania, they were both special order and took a month since they were coming from over seas.
Tends to happen with all the Online outfits.

My best advice is to call them direct, at least then you can now exactly where the order stands.

I have ordered from them before and had similar experiences, so I agree with the above comments.

I wouldnt worry about getting your product, I think it is just a question of when.

I have ordered several items there myself and never had a problem. If you haven't heard back from him you do need to send him another email and he usually gets back to you on that one.

On the plus side he is very good and even his custom products are top notch.

I bought the original angel eyes marker lamps from mikey way back when he first created them.....before I had my mini. Mikey's got a great rep, no reason to doubt him.

Blindingly fast shipping was what I experienced! Seriously, if you're concerned about the lack of response to your e-mail, just pick up the phone and call. International calls are cheap nowadays--just go to a convenience store and buy a prepaid card for a few bucks if you don't normally do international calling. . . . .

Update on the order. I received part (read one third) of my order the day after I posted. Since then, nothing. No emails, updates or anything. I should point out I placed this order on May 23rd. What gives?

Odd. Did you call, as suggested above?

No I haven't phoned as of yet, didn't really want to deal with the time difference. (What is it, eight hours?) I would think it would be pretty easy to answer my questions (no replies to the emails I have sent) or keep me posted (no updates) by email. Just figured I would bring it to the top again, might get an answer from him here.

Thread moved to General MINI Talk.

Good luck on getting it sorted out. I've bought a number of things from Mikey, and he's come through very well with all but one part. I don't fault him for that part though because it's VERY hard to find. I still have the order open for it... he's still trying!

I'm experiencing the poor/slow communications problems reported by others in this thread. I eventually received my order, but now it looks like the high beam bulbs I ordered will not work in my car because the connectors are different from OEM. The last time I got a response from newministuff was Aug. 7 when I was trying to find out where my order was. Now I've got a simple question about whether or not the bulbs I received are the wrong ones & if not, how to hook them up; but it's been days now with no response. This is NOT good customer service.

Update: On Aug. 15 I got a response asking for the part number of the bulbs in question. On Aug. 22 I got an email saying new ones had been shipped.

Update: On Oct. 9 I have still not received the replacement bulbs. I emailed Mike informing him of this. Waiting for a response now.

Update: Still no response as of Oct. 18 so I sent another email requesting status or at least acknowledgment that he received my email. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get the part I ordered back in July!
