Here's the latest from Dwell Magazine's June 2006 issue. It's a continuation of the "Visit the Modern World" campaign, this time highlighting a single place of interest. It includes a real tear-out MINI postcard to go along with it. Oh, this is one of five, so you have to buy at least four more magazines to get the whole set.

). Dwell seems to be one of those rare magazines that sends out subscriber issues before the newstand copies. Just by chance I was on Dwell's website yesterday and they were still listing the current issue as May, but it shouldn't be long before it hits the newstands.John

And the inside front cover:

The inside front flips down and lists the "privileges" of the passport and all the UK phone numbers to call for assistance. The pages have spots for your car's photo and stamps of the visted locations, just like a normal passport.

Anyone else got one and if so, what does yours have in the 2 white spots on the cover?

I participated in the BSSP run out here this past week. They (BSSP - the new ad agency) let us know a couple of cool things about upcoming ads. First off, they got Sergio Aragones (from MAD Magazine fame) to do a bunch of MINI-related edge of the page cartoons like he used to do in MAD. You'll see those in the next few months in some magazines (I seem to recall he said The New Yorker was one). He also said that they have a 5 or 6 month deal with Dwell, so you'll be buying Dwell for a few more months. And the biggest deal is some sort of top secret, for current owners only, general media campaign that starts in June. He didn't say much about it beyond that but he suggested that it's gonna be great!
The new Rolling Stone, 1000th issue, fancy cover, didn't let me down!!
A new MINI ad found on page 43 and will be there for all-newstand or subscription! I'll scan the ad and send it to James later to add to the collection but look for a CR Cooper on the right hand side of the page. The ad shares space with an ad for the Nature Conservancy, which MINI paid for the ad with the tag line reading- Let's make room for Mother Nature.

Anne:
Is the RS ad the same one that was in The New Yorker week before last? I'm just wondering if the Mini side of the page was different. Gosh, isn't that a clever ad? Really, it's more than clever: it "sells" 2 points - conservation of natural resources and buying a Mini Cooper!!
Just when I let my RS subscription run out......
One more thought: has anyone else besides me considered to whom they will leave their Mini Cooper ad collection when they die? I mean, I want it to go to someone who will truly appreciate it and not throw it away, donate it to a charity shop that will think it's for wrapping knick-knacks in, or....horrors, selling it all on eBay. Oh, I guess the latter would be okay: it would go to a good home.
Any thoughts? Bueller? Bueller?

Haven't seen anybody post about this one yet - June issue of Maxim - was at my son's house yesterday - the Ad reads: Opec Schmopec....
I told him to hurry up and read it so I could tear the magazine apart for the ad before I leave VA to go back home to CA..

The June 2006 Grassroots Motorsports has several tiny Mad Magazine style MINI cartoons in the top margin of page 63, 105, 123, 125, 131, 137, and 147. The last cartoon ends with a MINI logo. Very cool.

I found a new ad today. Back cover of Automobile magazine. It shows a Pure Silver Cooper with a caption above which says:
THE GAS CAP IS ON THE LEFT.
NO, RIGHT. WAIT, LEFT. RIGHT?
Automobile. July 2006. (back cover)

Check your dealer for the 8-page stapled MINI COOPER WITH JOHN COOPER WORKS GP KIT. glossy brochure (JCW GP-0106).
Also, the new MINI MOTORINGGEAR Spring/Summer 2006 (MG-04-06-40M) catalog is out. It looks like a field notebook.

I think my dealership said each got 50 GP brochures. They were only allotted 7 GPs and already sold them, so the brochures are kind of pointless. I hope to get a few more.
And I'll ask about the MTTS poster.

"Highway Patrol" by C.F. Payne
The back cover of the July 2006 Reader's Digest "Our America" section contains "Highway Patrol" by C.F. Payne:
Finally found the new red Morris Cooper Hot Wheels model out. For those that have it, you know you can take the body off of the chassis, right? Look for a "lock" on the bottom by the exhaust pipes. It exposes the roll cage and the interior.
I picked up the July/August 2006 issue of dwell magazine today. It does have the 2nd postcard in the series:
LET'S TAKE AN EXIT TO MODERN.
Let's put the pedal to the minimal. Let's
approach the speed of light. Let's travel to
the future. Let's take a walk through an
architect's dream. Let's send ourselves a
souvenir from the next century. LET'S MOTOR.
Dwell. July/August 2006. (between pages 116 & 117)
By the way, I have been working on updating the list. There's been so many ads since the end of last year all of a sudden! I've been scanning and getting them listed. I'll post the new list soon.

The lastest Rolling Stone magazine has a MINI ad on page 21. The magazine is the one with Johnny Depp on it- Issue 1004/1005 July13-27,2006. This is an ad for both the newsstand and subsription magazine owner.
The ad reads as follows:
LET'S LET THE ROAD RISE UP TO MEET US.
This summer,MINI owners from all over the country are embarking on an epic road trip across America. Ninteen states. Four thousand miles. And exclusive events along the way. Do it all or just a section. Check out when we're coming through your neck of the woods and be sure to mark your calendar.LET"S MOTOR.
The ad then has a map of the US and the route with the dates of each stop. Blue MINI convertable in the right hand side of the ad-
PS I think I read some where that Ian is drivng the whole route with his new MINI!
