Best electric RC MINI ?
Best electric RC MINI ?
To the RC MINI fans out there.
Any recommendations for the best bang for the buck ? Should be a 1st or 2nd generation, only electric, quality and speed primary, scale and price secondary, modifiable would be a plus.
However I saw this one here as well

Thanks for any input !

I built the ultimate M03
MCS Total was somewhere north of $800, but it is seriously fast and loads of fun.
You *could* build one for well under $200 bit if you get upgrade fever.....
M03 is front drive - just like the real thing !
towerhobbies.com have the basic kit for $95, then you need radio gear, servo, paint, batttery, charger and a few bits and pieces. So add about $100 for those.
The hop-ups that are available are truely endless, my MCS is pretty much one big hop-up
Full metal bearigns are the first thing you should do. ($30-$130)
More powerful motors and speed controllers are obvious too ! ($30 - $300)
After that you are in to suspension parts - the stock shocks are not exactly fantastic replace with TRF ones ($70)
Metal hubs ($30) and rear toe-in hubs ($30)
carbon gearbox shafts ($10)
Fr/Rr roll bars ($20)
etc etc etc
I took a lot of time to paint mine fairly accurately, the sunroof was a pain but worth it and the color took some finding too
But it is worth it to me....

Thanks Max for the detailed informations !
I was thinking about getting the complete set first, just so I don't have to build before playing

She is actually ok with it
Wondered me too, considering that I already got a 1/12 Miss Budweiser speedboat in the garage for 2 years now that hasn't seen water yet
What can I say, toys for boys

Anyone have any experience with the Iwaver MCS that Tower Hobbies sells? It's small (1/24 scale), but it looks pretty detailed and plenty fast enough for zipping around my office!
Just curious if the Tamiya is really worth spending twice as much money on. I really just want an RC version of my car, I'm not really into RC cars enough to spend $800 to $1000 like some of you guys.

No experience with the first point.
As for the Tamiya part: I'm a total newbie (as you can see by the posts above) but I will go with the Tamiya for the upgrade options.
I just shopped at Tower (not ordered yet) and come in below $200.
That's the Ready to Roll kit (red body with white roof, fully assembled) and has the radio, controller and servos included for $155. Plus 6 cell battery pack, charger and 8 AA batteries for total $40.
The kit is on backorder till beginning of August.
Plus Tower has additional money off if you order till End of July (see front page).
If I catch the bug I will later start to hop-up and if I buy additional cars I will upgrade to the new radios that work with 2.4 GHz and allow to use one radio with different controllers.
But that is down the road
