Dreyer & Reinbold?
Dreyer & Reinbold?
Has anyone purchased their car from this dealership recently? I put in an order for an '08 MCS and I'm just wondering if they normally throw anything in for free with an order. Free Floor mats, or something like that.
We just purchased our second MINI from D&R about month ago... We paid for floor mats, boot mat, & key rings (which we returned since the new key doesn't fit). Paid for all superfluous stuff for the first one, too. The way the market is MINI dealers really don't need to throw in extras if you don't want the car because you want free stuff, they only have 100 people in line who do. An '08 build? I was under the impression they didn't have any more build slots for '08, you must have gotten one of the last ones.
Actually, I wasn't expecting anything knowing how fast they're going off the lot. When I bought a Honda a couple of years ago, they were so delighted I took it off their hands and gave me LOTS of stuff including (I kid you not) a set of Honda logo cocktail glasses!
I consider my 'freebies' from the dealership to be the ongoing relationship and the events (including track days) they provide to owners.

I ordered on July 21st, I actually specifically went in because they only had a couple '08 build slots left. I actually have moved to Michigan in the last two weeks, and was going to order it from up here but they only had '09 slots left at that point. I didn't want DSC on the car so building an '08 saved some money. The dealer up here gives you a free accessory for ordering from them, so I was just wondering how Dreyer was.
We ordered our from them about the same time Ru2noon3er! It should be soon. Anything extra would be nice, but will wait and see.
The last car we bought was from Rohrman in Lafayette, IN.
We got a Garmin portable Nav as a "gift" I asked for in order to seal the deal. It will now go in our Mini.

Our car is currently "awaiting transport", so I'm not sure when we'll get it yet. I'm currently trying to decide if I want to get some of the clear film installed on the front bumper/hood before we pick the car up.

I just purchased my Clubman from D&R about 3 weeks ago. Easiest car purchasing experience I've ever had!! Great bunch of folks.
As for freebies. As previously stated, it really depends on your MA...Mine threw in a couple things (nothing major). Nonetheless, I consider myself VERY lucky to have received ANYthing...
From what I understand they'll soon be moving into their own (much larger) building, instead of being attached to BMW. Sounds like its going to be a pretty sweet setup...

I was going to buy from D&R because they were local. But they didn't want to deal, so I got my car out of state at another dealer and they bent over backwards for me. I got a discount on the price of the car, they then gave me a set of mats, boot mat, glovebox organizer, toy MINI, 3 MINI keychains, and activated all my accessories Alarm, rear fog etc for FREE. Then a week after I got the car I got a $50 coupon to use in their parts department.

What sorts of fees did you guys get charged from them? They told me $150 for a document fee. My MA had also previously mentioned a dealer prep. fee, that he said they would charge me whether I wanted them to clean the car or not, but when I asked him to give me a rundown for an out-the-door price he didn't mention it again.
Won't give me my car!?
I ordered a Clubman in early June from D&R. It should finally arrive in the next few days (the owner's lounge says 8/29). I have been emailing my MA regarding which Saturday I can pick up the car. I have been informed that they don't allow new car delivery (pickup) on weekends! No one mentioned this before. I live 2 hours away plus another hour because of a time zone difference. I refuse to take a day off of work (my wife would have to do so as well) to pick up a new car. Is this crazy or what? They offered to let me pick it up on a Sat if I get there by 9 am. That means leaving my house by 5 am. NO WAY!
Has anyone ever experienced something like this at a dealer?

Considering their website states that the sales department doesn't even open until 10 am, it seems like somethings wrong. Unless you're saying 9 am because of the time difference. Their scheduled to be open for 7.5 hours on saturdays, it's not like that wouldn't be enough time to finish any transaction. Unless it's the fact that the service department isn't open on saturdays. They should be able to prep your car the day before pickup, but I guess if you noticed any issues when you got there, noone would be in the service department to take care of them.
They better allow pickup of cars on saturdays, because I live 5 hours away and will only be able to pick up the car on a saturday as well.

I didn't even think of the service department issue. My MA said if I got there by 9:15 am we could get the car before he was officially "on the clock". I surmised the Saturday issue is because Saturday is a busier day at a car lot and the manager doesn't want MA's spending their time with people who have already given them the $$ ($1000 deposit); instead trying to schmooze prospective buyers. At least that's the first reason that popped into my head. Maybe I should have fought the traffic for the 1hr 15min drive to the Chicago area dealers instead. I even sent someone from work to D&R who ended up buying a Cooper S on the spot and driving it home! You'd think I'd get a little consideration!
If we can't work something out soon, I'm going to call MINIusa and see if they can help.

Some of this may seem harsh, but I think you need to step back and think about the other side. Sounds to me like your MA is going out of his way to help you. He doesnt owe you anything. In-fact, the clubmans are sold out allot of dealers, I am sure he could turn it over pretty fast. Sorry not to be a total jerk, you sound like a great big baby. OMG can you imagine getting up early to go get your new toy?!
Sorry but I had to wait a year for my car. Then after it arrived it took me over two weeks to take delivery for various reasons. I ended up taking over a week off to get the car.
There are more factors here than I am sure you are aware of. Having had a friend who was an MA he had to do ridiculous things to please customers cause for some reason the MINI community seems to be filled with huge children who only care about what THEY want and what's good for THEM.

When reading my posts you should have seen that I am NOT asking the dealer or my MA to do anything ridiculous to please me. I am asking that they allow me to show up on one of their normal business days during their normal business hours to conclude a transaction. I'm not really blaming my MA either. I'm taking his word for it that it is policy at D&R to not allow Saturday pickups. I just think their policy doesn't make sense - especially for people who live long distances.
Drive out the night before?
Make a nice getaway out of it.
Easy to be there early on Saturday morning then.
And, I had to pick mine up on a Friday evening (due to the Saturday thing and me working every one). I think D&R even stayed a little late for me. Thought it worked out fine.

In AZ we only had one dealer. There were people who had to drive min 3 hrs just for service.
anywho, I hope you get it worked out
Having purchased and taken delivery of three MINI's from D&R since 2002 I have found them to be great to work with. I live about an hour away and stop by there on Saturdays when in town and can attest to the fact it is a very busy day there.
D & R is accommodating us. We are picking up our Clubman this Saturday. That really was the only glitch in an otherwise great experience. I would still recommend buying from D & R and my MA. In fact, I'm trying to talk my sister into buying a MINI from them.
Thanks for asking.
Thanks for asking.
Yeah, I spoke with my MA about the same situation and he said it was okay to take delivery on a saturday, if you came in before normal hours. He said the main reason for them not wanting to do delivery on saturdays is since the service department is not open. So if they do happen to find an issue with the car during the buyers inspection of it, it can't be fixed immediately.
...THE TRUTH
Are you kidding me? In response to Way Motor Works, I found it incredibly ironic that you were once an employee of Dreyer & Reinbold and after being "let go" you tried to become a customer. A far greater testament to Dreyer & Reinbold's ethics and ways of doing business is the FACT that every single Motoring Advisor employed by Dreyer & Reinbold were OWNERS of Dreyer & Reinbold MINIs PRIOR to becoming sales people for Dreyer and Reinbold....hmmmm.....tell me, now, what does THAT SAY!!!???!!!
