For a begginer, your composition is pretty good

Take the following as constructive ...

pic #1
  • Very good composition!
  • Sky is washed out. Try a polarizing filter to make the sky bluer
  • Focus is whacky. Pic something you want in focus. It looks like the trees in focus and part of the tailight but not enuff depth of field for the front of the car in the pic. For a wide angle shot close like that, try a F stop at least F16, maybe F22, IMO. Right now your eye goes right to the trees in focus where it might be better for the eyes to flow FIRST to the rear of the car and then to the trees and rest. You see, you got the Rule of Thirds done excellent here but the focus is whacky
Pic #2

Same thing here. Composition is good but the front of the car out of focus makes the whole thing whacky. I presume you want to draw attention to the car but in fact, your only drawing attention to the daffodils.

It would also be good to lose the white house in the background, It detracts from otherwise a good composition and adds no value ... just clutter, to the background

Pic #3

OK, I dont like off angle weird angle shots but thats just personal preference. Looks like the background is washed out. Exposure is all over the place but like a spot meter on the green car. Try metering a bit on the car and the sky to get a better exposure or bracket the shots. Right now its over exposed.

Pic #4
  • GREAT Angle. You got a good eye for composition
  • Terrible focus problem just like the others. for something like that you want those pebbles in focus. Shoot stopped down ALL the way as possible. Get them in focus
  • Loose the power lines ... distracting
Pic #5

Not my favorite. Kind of blah. Powerlines, deep shadows

In general, very good eye on composition but you need to watch out for:
  • washed out skies
  • exposure
  • depth of field
  • metering.
Good Start

Jeremy, If that's Liberty Reservoir and you didn't stop in to see my today, you're in huge dogdoo, friend.

And hey, you have to ditch that Darcars plate frame and get a nice MINI frame... several designs to choice from.

Oh yeah, almost forget... nice pics and thanks for sharing !

Thanks for all the comments, now I have to take another day to go take some more pictures .

In pic 2, I was playing around with ideas for the April Photo Contest - Spring. So the flowers were actually what I was going for, so I guess Mission Accomplished

Well, I busted out the good ole' photoshop today and messed one of my pictures alittle, and came up with this.

I took the background to black and white so the car is more of a focal point. Brought the green out of the British Racing Green. And I also brought out the dark in the dark and showed off the light in the light. I think it came out a bit better then its original

Ewww... Ahhhh... very nice, Jeremy ! That pic is worthy of a NAM photo contest. Has April's contest been announced yet ? Maybe the theme will be black, white, and green.

Seriously... that's a great pic.
