It's an obvious photo-manipulation. How could it possibly be accepted as an entry?

 

It's a MINI related photo that is in keeping with the theme Black and White. There is no requirement that the photo be purely in Black/White/Grey scale (which in itself is a "photo manipulation" for most digital camera images).

If people don't like the selective color, then they can vote for a photo that fits with what they viewed the topic as. As far as the photo being accepted into the contest with selective color, that will not be grounds for rejection of the entry.

Sure, they just shouldn't look manipulated. I've submitted four photos, and every one of them was retouched in some way. They just didn't look retouched.

 

All we're after with that statement is that the image should still look like a photo. Not a rendering, or a sketch, or a posterized version. Basically, it should still look like something that was originally captured by a camera. Selective color is part of the manipulation process, and it has become a pretty standard way to present "black and white" images to draw out detail/contrast. It was still an image that retains the intrinsic look that it was originally taken by a camera.

Ultimately this is still just for fun, and members are invited to interpret the topic, unless there is some glarring reason that the photo submitted couldn't possibly fall within the boundaries of how one might interpret the topic, it will be accepted for the poll.

Again, if people don't like selective color, then cast your vote for another image that fits with your interpretation of the topic. As far as entries go, selective color will be accepted. We have done so in the past and we have had past winners with selective color.

Submissions are still open. I just sent my sibmission in. Deadline is the 25th according to the first post.

 

Deadline for entries is tomorrow at Noon Pacific.

Just submitted my first entry ever here. Then again, I only have had my MINI since the end of July! Can't wait to see the other entries!

 

Just a heads-up: tomorrow afternoon and evening are already looking very busy for me, so with the prospect of needing to link up 40+ (and potentially 50) photos, the poll may not go live until Saturday Morning.
