Atmospheric phenomenon and MINI pictures.

There doesn't seem to be a thread for pictures of MINIs and lightning, rainbows, etc.

Try taking a lightning bolt sometime.

Rainbows are easier.

Sunsets don't count on this thread.

WTF... What are the odds of a lightning bolt AND rainbow shots in the SAME spot? Thats unreal your car didnt move too much, I am sure these werent taken in the same relative time span, were they? Cool shots, you should be playing the lottery with luck like this!

Actually its not too rare that you see rainbows right after a thunderstorm. All you need is the sun to shine into the passing rain and wala, you get a rainbow.

What is intriging is how 89AKurt actually managed to take a picture of a full blown lightning! How did you do it?

It takes patience, lots of it. Beauty of digital is that 100s of shots can be wasted, I'm getting down to about 60 to get one bolt.
This week has been active for monsoon action. Now I just need to capture a flash flood and my collection will be complete!

I'm trying out a link to You Tube site. The only way I could get the whole rainbow in was to video it. My MINI is somewhere in it.

Here's one I took on "vacation" last week in NY:

Like the description says, the scene is nothing special, but I really liked the lighting. The moon was so bright, you really didn't even need headlights! 30 seconds at f/4; you can see the ghosts of one (or possibly two) of my mom's dogs.

Fog

Fog is unsual for Arizona, so during a business errand I checked out a new phase in StoneRidge subdivision. I like the lack of clutter in this shot. I'll post more this evening.

This was before sunrise.

More fog shots.

Thanks Jack for posting, I've never been to Niagra. And thanks Donna!

I favor this one for the curve in the road. This new phase in a subdivision is a dead end, zero traffic.

I airbrushed out a lot # sign, can you tell?

That rock outcrop will be somebody's front yard.

Can anyone tell Swifty needs a bath? That's the beauty of telephoto.

Sun dog

Using the hatch to block the sun helped.

Monsoon is here!

Another new subdivision, another uncluttered setting, at least for awhile.
I didn't use the tripod because it was sprinkling, used quick draw technique.

You using a long shutter or bulb Kurt? I've heard that's the best way to catch lightning-wait for the thunder, open the shutter and close after the flash. I guess try not to soil oneself should be part of the directions as well!
