Ive scouted a couple of locations, and took pics with my SD 400, with ISO at 400. Better pics to come this weekend once my friend with his DSLR comes out.
I just got this cam less than a week ago, so Im still figuring out what settings to use at night. I did find a lot of cool places that Im saving until I get a grip on my cam
Hmmm...My wife and I were planning a trip out there this summer. I'd imagine there would be some great shots if I could get my mini poised near the edge of some bluffs . How do you know about the dells btw?
Wife is a Chicagoan.
I got dragged out there a few of times.
(one of those visits was in winter. needless to say, we found a warm local establishment serving some homegrown brew- something about a "laughing cow.")
Hey, maybe you could get your MINI in front of those Dells "Ducks"!
the pictures look nice. way too much noise in them though.
I looked up info on the SD 400 and it indicates that the Noise Reduction kicks in at shutter speeds of 1.3 seconds or longer. Shoot in manual mode, set your aperture small with shutter speed longer than a second.

Let us know if that works.
Will do. I know that this cam is capable of some nice night shots, and I was a little dissapointed they turned out as grainy as they did. We have 3 cars now for a weekend night shoot: my R53, a very nice Type R on volks, a nice s2000 with mugen down-lows and some volks (same owner...go figure ) and possibly an E46.
I know there are some utilities that you can get that process digital pictures on your computer and can get rid of noise like that. I think there's one called Noise Ninja or something like that.
try to leave your headlights off.. maybe just use your fogs, or even just your running lights.. it will help balance the light you want in the picture.
I have some with them on, and others off...I think I have about 5 really nice shots. Im just learning the ins and outs of PS, so I should post up those 5 by the weekend.
