Too much traffic to park on the bridge.

Thanks, this is a different sort of photo for me.

LOVE this picture - how'd you do it? Some type of polarizing filter?

Also like this type of thread, subscribed!

Also, also: minirooferS - Is the blur in that parking garage photo from the lens or post-processing? Also very cool!

I used the 'auto exposure bracketing' on each of these shots and have 3 exposures of each angle; I tried to combine these into an HDR photo (ALWAYS loved those and wanted to try it) but no luck.. anyone have any pointers or a favorite (preferably free) program they use for this?

Also, these are unedited, straight from the camera. I am still messing around trying to make them look cooler, but I wanted to get these up here before you moved on from the bridge request, haha.

HDR can be tricky, and from what it looks like, you picked a noonish type time, not the best. The more "dramatic" the natural lighting, the more emphasized the rendering when the composures are stacked.

I know that PS, and I think even Elements has an "HDR" post process, but I haven't used it due to my lack of knowledge from the programs in general.

HDR is very easy to over do, but sometimes, it works amazingly. Just keep playing around. Also, you can alter your 3 f stops, along with shutter duration, allowing for longer exposures(more helpful in lower light for obvious reasons).

Unfortunately, it was actually around 6:45 PM I would have waited around for the sun to set more, but I was on my way to some waterfalls that I wanted to shoot before dark; I just randomly saw the bridge, remembered this thread, and thought I could get a couple of cool pictures.

A couple from the falls photoshoot:

Photomatix has the best reputation for HDR, and it's improved a lot in more recent versions - easier to use, and the resulting images can be edited more without going haywire. It has a plug-in for Photoshop and Lightroom. Lightroom also comes with another plug-in.

For free software, the best is an Open Source product now called "Luminance HDR". It used to go by the remarkable name of qtpfsgui and was hard to use - it gave so many options to tinker with and was still a two-step process (create the HDR data, then tone map to something that can be displayed or printed). I haven't tried the latest version - it's been 32-bit Windows only and I use 64-bit - but it can be downloaded free from here: http://qtpfsgui.sourceforge.net/
(I see they have an unstable 64-bit version available within the last month).

Wow...that is really a neat location. Mind if I ask where this shot was taken?
