Seeing as it's coming into summer where most of you are, it should be good weather for some evening drives. So let's see:

MINI UNDER NEON LIGHTS

If neon lights are a bit scarce, then it can be a MINI under some retro sort of illuminated sign. But full brownie points for real neon.

If you can get some nice reflections of the sign in the MINI, so much the better! (MINI hoods are great for reflections IMHO )

 

I got this, as it was one of the 6 items my kids and I had to get last Saturday. Usually we go out with a list and don't come home until we're done. Didn't look to pull a reflection on the hood though...

Next challenge?

 

Well, one of my 6 pictures needed to be a Mini with a professional stadium / arena. I didn't like how mine turned out, so I want to see one that's better.

Can't just be a brick wall telling me it's a 'such and such' stadium...needs to recognizable from the picture.

As an example, this would be the Penguins Mellon Arena which is set for demolition soon. Boarder line close...but the dome gives it away.

I'm totally curious. What was the competition "6 items my kids and I had to get last Saturday"?

 

I think I've posted three or four of these so far...

City with a Bridge
Loading dock
Rail Road tracks
Factory (which we partially cheated on, but got nice shots)
Sports arena
Neon lights

When we go out, we create a list of items before we leave. Make a nice evening trying to get everything in. It could be ab object, like I have listed above...or an idea, such as reflections which we did on a previous trip. It's hard finding some items sometimes, but it keeps the kids interested in photography...gets us to know the city...tests my skills...and gives us good family time.

 

Great idea! If my children were younger (they're in their 20s now), I'd definitely be copying it!

 

I hope others do steal the idea, but to be honest...it's even a good idea if you're just going out. Otherwise you find yourself getting the same pictures over an over. I've seen too many parking lots and parking garages (although...some of those are fantastic shots).

What I would like to do is get idea's from forum members here (like a previous said 'challenge' list). Give a week to get the items completed. The monthly challenges they post and threads like this give great ideas. If I had a nearby national monument...I would have tried for that one (but we've got nothing here).

Good thing mine is right down the street...tasty chocolate raspberry truffle. And I'm not a chocolate fan...it's just that good.

 

Well, don't go by quality of the pic...if I wait for the correct lighting, it will take forever.

I know this place is becoming a bigger chain, but they did start here near Pittsburgh. They make some of the best...and I believe each location make their own.


Couldn't help but pick up a pint too...

Your MINI with WATER

I envision this to me more of a MINI pictured with a lake, river, or ocean...as apposed to a MINI sitting in the rain or snow...or positioned beside a bottle of Aquafina.

Bonus points would be anything with a reflection...but not required. Let see some photos folks.
