I'm kind of confused as to why there isn't more activity on this forum. From what I can tell, there are an awful lot of us Midwestern MINIs, yet I look at this forum and at the number of views on any given thread, and it's like there is absolutely NO interest in anything!

So what gives? What's YOUR excuse?

I'm always here... but until I get mine in early January I feel like a fool acting like a MINI driver. People think because I sell them that my love for them is an act.

I'm here!!!! I have no excuse! At least all you Chi Town folks will have an excuse because you'll all be watching the Cubs try to win the World Series
Sorry, all of us St Louie people are jealous. It's too bad our managers can't get along-they are such babies. Seriously, good luck in the playoffs. Now it's go Blues & go Rams. Hey, what's wrong with the Bears????

Happy Motoring from 300 miles South,
Lois

Kansas City here.

Anything going on in Chicago during Oct 10-13? I'm gonna be up there to watch some friends (idiots) run the marathon and will be staying just north of the loop...
Sadly I will be sans MINI though

Is there anything going on in our "Midwest" region with MINIs that is unique and warrants activity here? I haven't seen a whole lot out of the clubs, Chicago or St. Louise. Is there an Indy MINI club?

I mostly hang out with these guys:

http://www.centralillinoisimports.org

Larger sampling of cars (not just MINIs), so more going on in the day to day, and more events.

While I was down in Florida this summer I did a few things with the MINI clubs there. Seems they have events at least once a month, and participate in some sort of cruise-in almost weekly!

Just my two cents.

Lois,

Did you say you were going to Phil Wicks Driving Academy on Nov 15th? If so, I'll definitely see you there.....at least in my rear view mirror

It's my hubby Gary's turn. He'll be driving the MINI. I'll see if he's up for a challenge although he'll be in the Novice class. I'll be there watching, however. My plan is to do the Intermediate class next Spring. See you on Nov 15th.

Well, of course I'm trying to do my part in activities by helping put together the autocross event in South Bend on October 19. (As you guys know.) Bunch of work in that.

As far as threads for this forum, most of my comments and threads are in mini talk cause that seems to fit what I enjoy about MCO.

So... what's unique about midwestern Mini owners? Do we have our own personality? Do we have something to share amoung ourselves?

I'm not in the Mid West but I believe that the MINI MADMEN will be hosting MINI Meets West in Rockland Illinois next year, I think it is Rockland. It is a Rock something in Illinois. I’ll post more after I get the exact dates from the MOTR meeting next Tuesday. As soon as we have the exact location communicated to us I’ll post it as well along with other information. This will be a huge event in the Mid West!

I'm only taking a wild guess but I would say that most of us Midwesterners tend to be a little more conservative than the East & West coasters. Most of us probably "grew up" in the cities we live in. We can "get out of the city" pretty quickly & enjoy the beautiful midwestern countryside (keep that a secret though). For the most part we are all proud of our Midwestern roots & family values so that is why we tend to stay put and raise our families close to home.
So any other thoughts???

Lois

Wow! It's amazing how many people are lurking in the shadows around here.

Christina, I think you're MORE than qualified to be on here blabbering about MINIs like the rest of us!

Well I was thinkin bout this one during the summer when it was over 100 degrees for nine days straight and everyone was complaining about the heat. So I thought to myself....hmmm...let's see just how bad the mw really is and I began looking at events in other parts of the country and here's what I came up with.
Yeah....100 degrees for nine days in a row sucks but....
1. I have electricity unlike the upper East coast.
2. I don't have a sniper running around shooting people at convenient stores like in West Virginia
3. My gasoline is not $3 per gallon like in Phoenix
4. and we aren't the laughing stock of the US cause we're having an election with 100+ candidates that include a **** star, arnold "what you talkin bout Willis" Jackson, Larry Flynt, and the Terminator.

That's why we should have something to say.

St. Louis and Mid-Missouri area has the Missouri Southern Road Rally on the 18th of October and its shaping up to be one heck of a drive! All those with MINIs remotely in the area should make a note to attend this drive!

Peoria, Illinois checking in here. Not too many MINIs here in the area, but I do see some. I've talked with SumWon on the Central Illinois Imports site I think (didn't you have a run-in with a deer?).

BTW - that big Mini meet is in Rockford, Illlinois. info here:

Detroiter here, and the MINIs are very few and far between around here as far as I can tell. I've heard rumors of a autmnal cruise through Ann Arbor in the next few weeks. Someone let me know if that's a go.
Otherwise, a Chicago road trip may be in order...

Maybe we should have a St. Louis/Chicago/Kansas City/Indy Club meet. None of us are too far away from each other that we couldn't do it over a weekend. And we might even draw some folks from the near South or near East!!!(Ohio,Arkansas,Tennesee& Kentucky) We are planning the trip to Rockford next summer but an interclub meet would be fun.

Happy Motoring from the Middle Coast,

Lois
Whoops! Forgot Michigan & Wisconsin!!!!

Idea: "Drove the Cove" weekend camp/drive/site-seeing---Cades Cove, TN. Anyone? Is that too "east?"

<---- signs "M" and "W" with hands

On another note--- COOP, how you get that verticle framed "COOP" at the right edge of your post?

Hey nynone4 good to see ya! I have upgraded my DAS (Deer Alert System) and no hits since!

It really sux that two of the biggest events in the near future are on the same day! Can't be in South Bend AND Missouri! I'm opting for the Southern Missouri event, I love those country drives! Hope to see a lot of you there!
