Motoring in the Half Moon Bay area?

I was on holidays in the SF and Half Moon Bay areas and found a great little resturant called "Chez Shay" on the main drag thru Half Moon Bay.

I searched to see if it was mentioned in here but found no mention. It is some great food. Wonderful home made soups. My wife and I were there and had a great Pumpkin soup, made without milk or cream. It was smooth and had just the right amount of spices to be warm but not alarming. The sandwiches were also excellant.

Just thought someone might like to know.

Oh, and we spotted 2 MCSs in town while there, a BRG/W and a dark blue/W that were traveling together on Dec 30th. Doing a little furniture shopping, I think. Both had the "Full Size" decals on back.

Happy New Year!

Just south of Half Moon Bay is a little town, Pescadero. There's a bar/restaurant that you shouldn't miss on your next visit. Duarte's Tavern has the best green chili and artichoke soup I've ever tasted!! Plus, it's a great drive, especially with the top down!

Scooby03, HWY1 to where? My favorite is HWY1 to Pescadero, take Pescadero Rd to HWY84, HWY84 east to HWY35, HWY35 south to HWY9 thruogh Santa Cruz and then back on HWY1 north to Half Moon Bay.

Hwy1 Is Fantastic Anywhere It Is Only 1 Lane In Each Direction.

I'll try to remember that for next year if we holiday there again. Always ready for a new road to try.

How about CLoverdale Road, that looks pretty nice? Or Alpine Road?

We did Rt1 between Big Sur and Leggett. Fantastic road, fantastic views! Continued up to Benbow and Humbolt Red Woods State Park.

The Red Woods defy description in their majesty and beauty.

Cloverdale Rd is boring. It ends at Gazzos Creek Rd wich puts you back on HWY1. Instead of Cloverdale stay on Pescadero Rd and follow the above instructions, you will like it. If you want to challenge yourself try Stage Rd between San Gregorio and Pescadero.

I drive Hwy. 1 from Morro Bay to Half Moon Bay, with a stop at the Neptune Bar in Big Sur for a Killer Bloody Mary

I still want to drive Hwy 1 from San Fran north though

That looks more like a jeep trail than a MINI road. I did install an alumunium bash plate under my MCS and I have done some dirt roads both here in CT and in VT. But those were graded dirt and pretty smooth. Not to sure what the dirt roads look like in CA.

But ya' gotta love the sound of rocks pinging off the bottom of the car and exhaust system as you blast down a stretch of gravel road.

It is an amazing road. Just wait unitl they clear away all of the fallen trees that came down at Christmas time. They had a bit of a blow up that way.

If you ever get the chance 198 between HWY101 and I5, is a really fun road.
