It would help if you didn't keep adding things to the list while it sits here. The gauge faces went out yesterday. Did Vinyl Styles give you an estimate on when they would be done? I know they will be at AMVIV and so will we, so I know your MINI will continue to reside/display in our shop for a while longer.

No, I don't know what Lyle's timeline is. I'm sure it'll be a week or so after AMVIV that you receive the new CF/Fracky gauge faces at the shop. That's ok though, the Frackmobile's in good hands.

A Big Thanks

Maybe 495 pages is a bit too late to try to bring this thread back on topic but...

A Big Thanks to Steve and Custom MINI Shop!

It's been a week since I drove the 180 miles from my house down to CMS to get an M7 16% pulley installed in my car.

Steve was nice enough to let me watch (didn't even charge extra!) and I gotta say, I'm really glad I had someone with experience do the pulley install. I'm pretty handy with cars (up to and including having rebuilt two Jag 6-cylinder engines), but watching all the little snags Steve ran into, and all the little tricks he had (that weren't in any of the step-by-step guides I found online), I kept thinking, wow, I'm sure I would have been swearing and throwing things by now!

Also got to meet 03Eyeore and another MINI owner named Steve. (Forgot his NAM handle, sorry!) He had a funny story involving a stethoscope - I may run over to Walgreen's and get one to keep in my driver's side door pocket! Also got to look at Fracky's car, which was in several places throughout the shop. I was disappointed that Brad wasn't there that day - would have loved to say "Hi!" (Hi, Brad!)

Anyway, I am really pleased with the work Steve did, and the way my car is performing now. Thanks, Steve! (And Brad!)

Wowwee - are we having fun! Tillie's Joy Pedal goes to ELEVEN now!

Steve and Brad I real don't want to make a contest out of this because your shop wouldn't be big enough for the two of us. That sounds like a gun fight. I come highly recommended by 2 other shop that love to see my car coming. They know they can make payroll this month.

Well pahtnuh, I think the corral is big enough dagnabit. We gotta support CMS. Plus, I would actually like my car back one of these days. We'll have a gentleman's agreement, you can take the "shop display" spot when I'm not there & vice versa.

You got it. The only problem is after next week we will both have our cars there at the same time. Oh well they will figure it out.

OH! Since I get down to Orange County a few times a year, I sent an email to Jan about a week ago, asking about a custom tune. But I never heard back from him. ( Is that typical behavior? )

I'll definitely keep an eye on that thread!

Thanks!

When Lyle PM's the proofs, I'll post em' so y'all can see what I'm doing. The end result should be super-sweet & it'll carry my new CF/Fracky/Chrome theme to the interior.

How does it feel to pay 25k for a paper weight?

It doesn't hold down any paper, but it keeps our shop floor from rising. Oh, and $25K is quite an under-estimate at this point.

Since I can't finish the interior, I installed your cam yesterday. Maybe someday you can test it out.

I think it's pretty safe to say x3 of that figure if you count having to cover all the other crap that was done to the car. Thankfully, I'm on the straight-&-narrow now and have a great mechanic. It's all blue skies from here.

Awesome!! We're you able to install the new JCW injectors too? They're in the driver's side door pocket. Thanks Dr.Steve!!!

Thanks for reminding me, I was wondering where they were the other day. The intercooler is not back on yet so it's easy to do the injectors.

When I get the Frackmobile back, I'm going to be itching to get my RMW tune. What's the good word on that whole deal? Are we gonna need to make a day trek to LA to get it done? It might be kinda fun to jam down there together. I'll let Dr.Steve do the NO2 testing. I just like purging.
