Mine are not very old, but Brad may have gotten them awhile ago. Do you use the new teflon arms? are they working for you?

Thanks

Jim

Alta Control Arms

Mine are about two years old and they came with the nylon inserts in the hime (end) joints. The alignment guy put them in a bind when he was in a hurry to do my alignment. After awhile ,since they were all bound-up, they started making alot of creaking noises and never quieted down for long no matter what lube I used. While I know this was a maltreatment of the ends I've also heard of others who have similar noise problems even when they aren't abused. In desperation I pick-up some good teflon ends from Western Fuel and have not had any noise for the last year.
While at a track day at Thunderhill last summer a vender had Alta rear control arms and they had teflon ends on them so I assume that is the way they all come now. That ad you say you read says that they are still nylon?
If they are I'd replace them with teflon. I think they were about $13 apiece.

Just my two cents worth.

The wife and I are going to visit her sister in Reno and I just might hook-up with Trackmasters on Sat. the 17th. Did this one last year with these guys and it was fast and fun. The track is something like 4 miles long with about 28 turns one of which is called The Toilet Bowl. You take it and just start working your way to the top edge of the bowl as you accelerate out. It's a hoot.
Hey you poor engineer I thought you didn't have a pot to p... in.

Yea I checked again, here is a different quote from the same add:"Threaded into both control arms ends are huge aircraft quality, Nylon impregnated, rod ends. The Nylon impregnating prevents the ball from coming loose, causing a rattle, as well as constantly cleaning the bearing surface". So I'm not sure what they are supposed to come with. Anyway, you got some replacement heim joints from Western Fuel? They are right here in Fresno right? Thanks, Jim

Rod Ends

My bad. It's Western Speed and Fuel on South Van Ness just next to the old sign that archs over the street welcoming you to Fresno. Phone 485-7442. Good place for racing parts, oils, clothes, fuels, tires, etc. etc. etc.

Besides, there's some software I've got my eye on which means there's potential to strike a deal.

It's always nice when the FFR can be bribed. Software? I thought work provided that or are you getting into gaming?

Dr Steve is all by his lonesome today so I called Alta just now. Their control arms now come in teflon. Hopefully they are of good quality and will last without lubing as long as they are set in a position where they can rotate a few degrees.
Hope this is helpful Jim.

So, I was driving down the 41S today on the way to have the tires replaced on the Cayenne & I saw a Pure Silver Cooper S with Hamann front end & Hamann graphics on the side going the other. Does anyone know who this is? I thought it was a great looking car & being a big Hamann fan, I was kinda jealous.
