Driving schools in our area?
I'm doing an event with NASA/Ohio-Indiana. There will be at least three of us MINI track rats there. Check it out. April 1-3, you can do all three days, two days or 1 day.

I have never run Mid-Ohio before, but I understand that it's a must do track. Among the top 10 must do's in our country is what I've heard. Some of the people that I know from other tracks have driven there and agree that it's a great track. I know a bunch of people who will be there, besides MINI owners.
I've run with NASA/Northeast and NASA/Mid-Atlantic before, but never with the Ohio/Indiana Region. I am, however, expecting a great event. Be sure to post what you decide to do.

I think either way, i will be there. I got to college only 10 minutes from Mid-Ohio...so if i cant get the money together, i will try spectating if allowed.
I will strongly consider registering though(hopefully school work will permit too
). How experienced are you at track racing? Is it alright for me to sorta be a beginner? This would be my first time on a real track...im just trying to get a start so i can slowly enter the world of mini motorsports

Spectating is free, or a very nominal cost!
Though there are races going on, there is also something called "High Performance Driver's Education", or "HPDE", which is what I and the people to whom I referred will be doing. You learn the types of skills that one needs to drive a car on the track at speed, negotiate the line, classroom sessions, etc.
I've done 25 track days, of course beginner's are welcome! You'd be in HPDE 1.
From the region's FAQ page:
What is HPDE?
HPDE Stands for High Performance Driving Event, and is at the core of the NASA Ohio/Indiana program. It is here that anyone age 18 or older may register to get out on a real racetrack and drive without speed limits. HPDEs are broken into four run groups based on driver experience and capability. Instructors ride with group 1 and 2 novice drivers, and classroom instruction is also provided. HPDEs may be in the form of one, two, or three day events that may be joined with racing events. Overall the HPDE is great fun, and a good place to sharpen your skills

Sounds good...what happens in the case of bad weather? Snow is always a possibility that early in april.
Thanks again for pointing me to this option

If there's a snowstorm more than likely that would interfere. If there are flurries the show goes on. If there is rain, the show goes on. Out of 25 track days (average 4 on-track sessions per day) during different seasons, I've only had to run 2 sessions in the rain, and experienced flurries at Lime Rock last November. The flurries were pretty meaningless.
Driving on track while it's wet and/or raining is a good learning experience, plus, the MINI's do quite well.
