Has anybody bought the stage 1 brake kit that Aaron sells? It uses ATE rotors and pads. I've got some bonus money to spend and besides getting tires for my holies, I need to replace my brakes. MAG told me awhile ago that the fronts needed done, so I was thinking that I should just do the rear as well.
Not sure what's in the Stage kit, but I did get a set of the cryo-treated rotors from Aaron the last time I needed brakes. They claim to last *much* longer than the stock rotors, but I haven't tested that assertation yet. I only put them on in the Spring, but so far they stop just as well it seems like. I also put on Hawk brake pads, which has lead to a *dramatic* reduction in brake dust.
I'm running Stop Tech cryo treated rotors sourced from Aaron. I have a couple of years on them & they still look pretty good. Hawk pads in front with Akebono pads in the rear. There's a long story about my rear pad change. I'll gladly tell it at breakfast for a donut.
I just put on the ATE rotors over the weekend with EBC Green Stuff pads - I've heard good things about this set up. I'm not sure how the ATE pads are. The rotors look nice (right Chuck?) and they were a pretty good price. My brakes aren't broken in yet so I can't say much about them. They are stock size so they'd probably fit over hollies. Brian, when was your car built?
Brian, we painted them orange and black. Since they were so light we added a Polar Bear insignia and using them to play the Ohio Northern frisbee golf course.
Good thing there wasn't an hourly rate for garage/tool rental! Thanks again to Chuck and Ben for helping me change the oil and get the new brakes and rotors on.
