Interesting conversation this weekend
So Saturday, I'm sitting on the couch watching my beloved Buckeyes play when M.A.D. walks in and says that there is a PW/B MINI sitting at Toyota Direct. I'm thinking "oh that's nice" when she drops this bombshell..."Why don't you check to see how much they want for it*".
We have been kicking around the idea of getting a third car for her to use for work due to the cost of gas and the large number of miles that she is putting on her year old RAV4. I had to explain to her that even a used '02 or '03 Cooper would be more then we had previously discussed as a doable cost for a third car. I also had to caution her about some of the issues I have read about with the auto tranny in the earlier model years.
*By the way the PW/B at Toyota Direct is a '06 Cooper S with 14,xxx miles and they are asking for over $27,000 for it.

$27,000 for a two year old MCS ? Better be loaded with all the packages and in tip-top condition, taken care of by an OCDetailer.
But it does appear there will be another Multi-MINI family in the near future.

If you are looking for a Mini there is a Ford dealer in Moundsville WV that has three on their lot (or they did about a month ago) I magine my amazement when driving through and seeing them on the lot, one was a clone of Chucks without the hole in the hood

She already said that she would want a Cooper. I'm trying to figure out a way to convince her to trade in the RAV4 on a Clubman and then get her a used vehicle that still gets decent mileage and can become the work/dog hauling mobile.

The description they have listed isn't very informative as far as what options it has on it, but still I think that it is obscenely overpriced even if it has the JCW kit on it.

FWIW there are posts throughout NAM on what members paid for their used MINIS.
For a dealer that is a tad much [but about right]; I have seen 2006 S going for about $24K with low miles and in excellent condition.
I bought mine [a mint condition 2006 non-S convertible] in June of this year for $20K. I considered that a good price [not a steal, but a fair price.]
Mine came with cold weather package, Harmon Kardon, Chrome Line package, armrest [a ridiculous $250 option], climate control, etc.
It had 23,500 miles and two years left on the MINI warranty.
If that 2006 S is in excellent condition, has about the same warranty left as mine, and is loaded with options I'd pay about $23 to $24k for it. Around here in the Bay Area an S, "non-convertible," have been going for about that.
But I think getting rid of the Rav and getting a Clubman would be the awesome way to go. You get a cool MINI, yet some of the "mini SUV" benefits of the Rav4.
