I am taking my Mini into MAG on Thursday to get it serviced. I will have them install mine also along with my JCW gear shift indicator light. Another cool accessory courtesy of Out Motoring. Aaron, I will send you a picture of it when I get back from MAG.

Hi Mike
Hope you are ok. MAG did a nice job for me and I can't wait to see your pictures. Did you do the Mid Ohio at Mansfield the day after the June breakfast? I am going to put my picture in my gallery for you to see the gear shift.

That looks really nice. I did not know they made such a thing. Do they do any other designs?

Allen they come in a checkered & union jack motif. They also come in 5 or 6 speed pattern. You could have a faux 6 speed.

ngweibing Outmotoring will ship you one.

Yes they do look very good in person. If you want I can shoot a picture of it for you. Your cameras are focusing on the background not the shift ****.

Sounds good. I will be at the breakfast on Saturday. I figured that Aaron would want a picture of it.

Chuck, take a photo for Mike...I can't take good ones either and this one (although the shifter looks great) remind me of Mickey Mouse with a Union Jack tatoo on his face

I am still undecided on the JCW shift lights. I have mine set for a redline of 7000 RPM. During normal driving conditions only the center light will be lit. You need to get your RPMs up to 5500+ RPMs for any of the other lights to start working. I think I might change the setting from 7000 back down to 5000 so I can see something besides 1 green light lit. Once I figure out my next mod I think I will have the shift light indicator adjusted at that time. I have been considering the M7 under strut system along with their new rear diffuser for the R53 aero kit. So far the biggest change in performance that I have noticed so far was from adding my Nology wires and MSD coil that I got from Out Motoring.

Hey all...first, I'm a noob to the BRM group in the north, heard good things about you guys, so I wanted to say hello....

I know this is an older chat, but I've got an '08 and I'd really like to get the shift **** inserts but, probably due to my own ineptitude, have not been able to locate for my model. Will the outmotoring version for the R53 work on mine? I appreciate if you have any thoughts!

Hi BrytyshBloke
I bought my gear shift **** insert from Outmotoring.com, but my husband was unable to remove the clear plastic cover on the shifter. I took it to MAG in Dublin when I had my oil changed and they inserted the new cover.
I know that JC Workz was unable to remove the clear plastic and he took it to MAG and they put it in.
Hope this helps

Hello, nice to meet you. Heard good things about us eh? You must have been taliking with Kim. She always has a good word for us. Of course now I have to send her another $5 for that compliment.

I'm not sure if the insert would be the same or not. Give Aaron at Outmotoring a call on Monday & find out for sure. My guess is that it would be the same thing for either, but it's just a guess.

Well, seeing as I'm mechanically 'disinclined' I'd probably see if Classic can pop it for me if it gives me troubles, I will talk to Aaron on Monday to see if it's even a possibility, thanks guys...and nice to meet you...

I guess I'll let Kim know her check is in the mail!

MAG said the trick is to drill a small hole in the center of existing plastic shift disk and then use a an awl to remove it by prying up on it through the hole. You just have to make sure not to get too crazy with the drilling part. Once you remove the cover just insert the new one, making sure that you get it straight. You only get one chance. I do remember seeing 5 and 6 speed inserts at Aaron's. If you feel uncomfortable installing it I am sure that your local Mini dealership will gladly do it for free at your next servicing.

Do you think I need to trim my eyebrows?

Gosh you've really let yourself go there. And I thought I was the ugly guy around here. Might try a little lotion for that dry skin.

Have you managed to get to any of the local racing events?

I polished up her grill and took her for a spin just this weekend. I was doing great till she developed that distinct R53 burble. I think it might of had a little draft effect on the locals behind me.
