Pizza Run This Sunday

OK here is the deal. I have been jonesing for some DiCarlo's pizza from Wheeling WV and for a nice backroads drive. If the weather is nice Sunday I plan to get up and hit the road for a crazed day of driving and getting some pizza. It will be:

I-70 to Zanesville
Back roads to Wheeling
Pizza
Back roads to Zanesville
I-70 to Columbus

I would like to leave no later than 9:30 am. If anyone is interested in joining me please post here and we can come up with a meeting point (probably the new rest stop on I-70 just east of Columbus. Depending on timing I may also stop by my parents house, which is on the route. But this would be a quick just say hello stop.

Amish beer

I'm not going any farther north than Wayne County. I'll be staying south of Wooster.

It is almost the same, but not quite. It is one of those growing up memories that place has a lot to do with it. Actually the best one closed while I was in high school, but the second best one is still around so I drive past 4 or 5 outlets before getting to my pizza mecca.

That's when I thought it was Mom-in-law's 70th b-day is on 4/18, so I think we are celebrating it on the 19th around noon.

Sorry you can't make it. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Don't worry, there are others that are not going to be able to make it either. I may be persuaded to do this again sometime.

Gotta go change my earl now......

Put her in back and tell her it's part of the celebration.

Sorry I'm going to have to miss the pizza run.

And the weather is supposed to be really nice. I had my windows down today and it was a great feeling!

70 year olds like nothing more than Amish culture, just ask Chuck

Ouch that hurt.

There are more & more Amish in Ohio. They are moving into SE Ohio because of the reasonably priced land & close access to great pizza.

I am still planning on going! Unless the weather turns bad I will be at the rest stop just outside Columbus on I-70 and will leave from there at 10:00 AM. If anyone needs to get ahold of me that morning call 507-1627. I will make a few copies of the route, using roads that Chuck gave me a while ago mixed with some local knowledge. If time permits I also have a road in Wheeling that I have not had a chance to run the Mini on, but if time is running short I would skip it (this would be an out and back on a wicked twisty road!)

Allen, would that wicked twisty road be the one out to Olglebay and back? Wish I could make it but early events on Sunday morning are usually out for me.

Yes it would, but it goes much farther than Olglebay and it gets better the farther you go. We used to run it all the way to West Liberty in a friend's unkle's Buick Riatta, untill one of the unkle's friends saw the car going really fast and asked him about it. We never got the keys again :(

I wish I could do it tomorrow, but we have plans :(

Are you talking about the rest stop between SR79 and SR13? I am still trying to work out the logistics with my wife. But at this time I think I will make it.
