Pictures... BMW school @ Mid-Ohio
Hello fellow LAME members.Today I went up to watch my friends have fun at Mid-Ohio. They had a dry morning followed by a wet rest of the day. It was hard just watching, I LOVE the rain!!!
Any who here's a link to some pictures. **** Warning **** Explicit MINI content!!!
Enjoy......

I think it was only for BMW Club members. They do quite a few of these events if memory serves me.

Crashton,
Very good series of on track and pit pictures. Were the days results posted anywhere for lap times and finishing position by the groups?
The MINIs looked real good and you captured some great pictures, especially in the wet sessions.
Quick question, is the MINI with the LIF S FUN plate an 06 Royal Gray? Who is the owner, I like the way the graphics are done on the bonnet. Really wanted to see a roof shot, too.
Also, like the way the driving lights are hung, generally neat MINI.
All of them look great on the track, looked like a great day.

This track day/drivers school was hosted by the local BMWCCA group. I'm sure for this part of the country this one is the last of the year.
The only criteria is a safe car & membership in the BMW club. Of course there is the entry fee. Check them out, they are a lot of fun & will make you a better & safer driver everywhere, not just on track.

Oh yes nothing better than a gaggle of MINI's.
At BMW schools they don't do lap times. In fact I believe they actually discourage that. This was a school not a competition.
They did have a BMW race on Saturday & that one was timed for sure. Although I didn't see any results for it.

Pardon my ignorance. How Mini friendly is the local BMW club (Columbus Chapter)?
I'm in the Buckeye Chapter, and we have been accepted pretty well. Sure, I guess there are some Bimmer "purists" who think that ONLY cars with the BMW emblem are Bimmers, but, when they see the MINIs right on their tails at the tracks thru the curves over and over, and some of our better drivers even hanging with them as well as passing them on the straights, we are changing their minds bit by bit and getting more and more accepted into the "Club". I imagine that some of the staid BMW "old money" owners would never go to the track, though, and perhaps THAT'S where the real snottiness comes in. However, I've been a BMW CCA member for 2 years now, and feel we are welcome...the Bimmer guys being just other "boys but with bigger toys".
Most Bimmer drivers have never been in a MINI, and my instructors are just AMAZED at how agile and quick the car is. To me, that sings high praise and grudging respect for our MINI Bimmers.

How many times did you lap them guys? I lost count after 5.
Now that you are all warmed up & ready to go, are you going to tackle Nelson Ledges International Speedway with us old farts next Saturday?

I've been a member for only a year, but in that time I have never had my car looked down upon. To me it seems they are happy to have us.
I've received more BS from a few classic Mini owners.

Chuck,
Great pictures! Thanks for posting. I love Chad's counterfeit MINI van -- what a hoot! We joined the group at the 'cave that night. I even gave Chad a hand on the BRG/White car's new rear sway bar.
Sunday had vastly improved weather, and the last session, Chad, Larry, Zilla, and Tim ran pretty much the whole session together and had a great time, except for when Jeff was lapping them.

Thanks Paul!
I wish I could've come over to the man cave, but I was expected back in Hooterville. If I'd have known Chad was doing mods in his off time I'd have found something for him to do.
It sure was nice seeing all my friends up there & making a couple of new ones.
I was thinking about those guys Sunday. What a great day. I bet they learned a lot more about car control on Saturday.
