I killed NANO
I killed NANO
Well, as some of you already know, we went out to NC this past weekend for some fun on the Dragon. I decided I wanted to drive the first leg home so I could experience the Dragon first hand. I came around a curve that I didn't handle well, and I ended up flipping poor Nano. Me, Matt and Grayson are all fine...we walked away from it, but the car sacrificed itself to save us. So RIP Nano, you will be missed. So, so missed. And I'm sure all of you can understand how terrible I feel about this. I also want to send out a huge THANK YOU to Chuck and Barbara for helping us Sunday. If they hadn't been there, I don't know what we would have done. It's good to have friends. And it's great to be alive and well to appreciate them.
WOW I am glad you guys are OK. Having flipped a truck in my younger days I know just how scarry it is when the wheels point up.
Cars are replacable (even Mini's) Matts, Graysons, and Karens are NOT!!!!!
Is there a pile of LED's on the side of the Dragon?

This is very sad. I am so glad you are fine, but Matt put so much work in to that MINI it really is a shame. I hope the insurance company works with you on all the mods and the leasing company is understanding.
So sorry to hear this, but again I'm glad y'all came through all right.

Again, glad you are ok. They'll make another cute cabrio for you. . . .

Not HO. They don't make that color anymore. Matt and I both REALLY want another orange one, so once we figure out what the insurance is going to do, we'll see if we can hunt one down. As soon as I started to go off the road, this sinking feeling set it, and it hasn't gone away yet.

RIP Nano.... =(
What a strange almost surreal sight greeted Barbara & I when we rounded that bend Sunday morning.
When I realized it was you guys, it was one of the worst moments of my entire life.
Then when I saw you & your family were safe, standing there behind Nano it was better than Christmas for me.
Wow what a relief!!!
I'm very glad we were there for you.
Like I've said a bunch of times, it's just a car. You'll get another one.

Kara, Matt,
It was a real shock to find this thread! We are overjoyed that you guys are all safe -- glad to know that the cabrio is as strong as the coupe. What a plus that Chuck and Barbara were there soon afterwards. I know that sinking feeling all too well....I am hoping it goes away sooner for you than it has for me.......

Wow... sorry to read about the loss of Nano.
But look at it this way: Like the old saying that every good thing must come to an end, every MINI will eventually meet it's last day. What better place for a MINI to go than on the Dragon ?
Insurance will take care of the financial loss. The emotional loss will take a little longer. But time will eventually take care of it, too.

No, they didn't give me a ticket. When he was writing up the report, I asked how I go about paying the ticket, and he just laughed and asked why on earth I though he was going to write me a ticket. They were super nice. I think they save the tickets for the people who are jag-offs.
Killboy has the pictures up. Go to his website (killboy.com) and look under Oct. 21st. He got 9 pictures as we passed by. The car doesn't look too bad from this angle though, since most of the damage was on the driver's side. Matt will post better pictures later. I love the shots of Blu Brit in there. We were all piled in, following behind Nano...may he rest in piece.
Sorry to hear about NANO; Clover told me about it after I left early. Glad to hear you all made it out safe. Another MINI-survival story. We should start a sub-club of our own [kind of a sick idea I know].
Best of luck with insurance and getting a replacement you feel good about.
Cheers,
Ryan

I'm sorry to hear about your loss of Nano. I'm glad you all were lucky and not injured. Where exactly did you go off at?
I made a couple runs on the dragon Saturday evening and early Sunday morning, but didn't see any of you all. I wish I was there to help.
It appears we both made the killboy.com homepage.

It sounds like NANO did her job of keeping you safe, and for that, I am truly thankful.

What dramatic photos those are! How fortunate for the Cooks that you and Mrs. Crashton were there!
