What you guys do for new tires over there in Dayton?

Reason I am asking is I might be relocating to Dayton from Hawaii by end of Oct 07. I am in need of some new rubber and looking at the difference of doing it here (shipped in from Tire Rack) or just waiting to do it there after I arrive... It isn't firm that I will be coming to Dayton yet, but a pretty good chance...

Tires out here are crazy expensive from Mini of Hawaii and other tire places... like $1K+ for replace all four... plus $300 for an alignment from MoH... I can have them drop-shipped from TireRack to an installer for $92 shipping and $200 for install & alignment. Looking at the Continental ContiProContact SSR for $111 each, so $750 total.

I like Tire Rack, but I like having someone local if I encounter a problem. I've used Discount Tire a couple of times & have been very pleased with their service. They will also price match Tire Rack. I think they have 2 stores in the Dayton area.

I will know by the end of the month if I am going to OH, CO or DC... we are trying to for Ohio since my family is all still there up in Toledo area... I am a military contractor so would be working out of WPAFB and can do my reserve time there too... Colorado Springs is another area we are looking at.. or VA/DC if neither of those come through...

 

Man if it was me I'd want to go to Colorado. I'd get a 4 wheeler & head for the mountain passes. God's country.

 

Discount Tire is ok in Dayton, but I think they are expensive. I prefer to order from Tire Rack, because their installer list utilizes better personnel, IMHO. I've also ordered from Vulcan Tire and have used Tire Rack's installers with no problems, too.

 

I said screw it and just ordered 4 new ones from tire rack yesterday... Just to get it done and out of the way before I ship the car to where ever... Could be OH, CO or VA...
