I have been trying to get a Patuxent River (southern MD) club going for a number of years and have suceeded in rounding up 5 or 6 of us that meet on an irregular basis to have eats and BS for a while and then go home. At least, it is something and we don't have to drive very far. Getting people to do anything here besides their job, is difficult. 3 of us did get together to run to the Cooper Winery MINI/Mini function last August. I think they are having it again this year around the same time.
Does anyone know why they lowered the speed limit on route 218 from Dalgren, VA to Fredericksberg? It was 55 all the way and now it is 45 most of the way. No fun at all.

that sounds good, its nice to just get out. While going through this thread I'm seeing a number of people in Baltimore, Columbia, Annapolis, and the Eastern Shore, I know I wouldnt mind doing get togethers periodically. Unfortunately I dont know the answer to your question re: 218. I dont pay much attention to speed limits lately. lol... maybe you could check with the highway administration?

Hi!

My wife and I are in Ellicott City. Our names are Jenne and Will.

I bought my first MINI Cooper in July 2005 from MINI of Towson. I lost her on April 13th in an accident. No one was injured, but Red 5 was totaled. Here are photos of Red 5 from the day I bought her through the last day. http://www.flickr.com/photos/will_bu...7616888255522/

My new MINI is named Homer and he is O2B/white and before the end of the year the decoration will commence. I took delivery of Homer on Wednesday 4/29. I don't have a lot of photos of Homer because of the horrible weather. Can we have some sun, PLEASE?! I have a few photos here, http://www.flickr.com/photos/will_bu...7617464829695/

I was a member of DCMM for one year from 2005 to 06, but because I couldn't make any events (life was insane for a long time), I let the membership drop. My life has changed and I hope I can make some events and meet other MINI owners face to face, instead of only a friendly wave and I always wave (or flash lights).

Motor on!

For you Marylander's looking for an alternative club to the DCMM group... Bill Wolf started up a new club called C3M (Central Maryland MINI Motorists). No dues or anything, just a bunch of enthusiasts doing some motoring in the central part of the State along with some socializing.

Here's the link...

It's very new, so don't let the lack of message traffic scare you away. It will grow.

Hi everyone,

Here's a photo of Homer and me this afternoon on the same spot I photographed my first MINI.

This past Sunday Jenne and I took Homer out into Shenandoah Valley for a long drive in the country. 262 miles. This weekend we leave for a week long vacation in the Outer Banks!

Our Outer Banks vacation was awesome and the ride in Homer was too, but we expected nothing less. The ride was an improvement over our 1st Gen MINI.

We only saw ten MINIs in the whole 1200 mile round trip though. I think that that is both good and bad. Good because it makes us unique. Bad because we like to see and meet more MINIs.

The Philips X-treme halogens are a big leap up from the standard halogen bulbs that come installed from the factory. They were a big help at night.

The cargo setting for the back seats also made a big difference in how much stuff we could carry from the room to the beach. For the trip up and back the deeper boot allowed us to carry two 24 packs of bottled tea. We could never carry that in our 1st gen MINI. The addition of the cargo nets is a huge help.

Homer now has 2200 miles on him.
