FS: 1978/91 Mini 1275 - Reduced to $6500 obo
Edit 9/18/05: Now listed on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ALCA%3AUS%3A31
Hello all,
Now that I have paid off my classic Mini, I've decided to sell it so I can get some money into savings.
You can find images of the car at the following link: http://www.bonecreeper.com/sprog3/
Please note a couple changes that have happened since the pictures were taken:
1. Rally lights have been removed
2. Shift **** replaced with a wooden one
3. 998 engine replaced with a 1275
I have spent several thousand dollars replacing the engine and making various mechanical improvements to the car. A few rough spots:
1. Hand brake is not working (likely just needs adjusting)
2. Small oil leak (hey, it's British)
3. Paint is fading from age, and there is surface rust under the headlights, along the windscreen, on the doors, and a few other places. Nothing irreparable, however.
I'm asking $6500 obo. Buyer pays shipping. The car is an excellent daily driver, and the 40+ mpg helps out a lot during these times of high gas prices. It's also cheap to insure! Registered as a 1978 Austin Mini 1000. Please call me at 330-524-2800 or e-mail minineo@neo.rr.com if interested. Thanks!

I have like $12,000 in the car - but there's no way I'd ever be able to get that back out of it. I just want to cut my losses - I could restore it to become a gem, but I just don't have the money to do it. It'll pay off my new Dell 9100
I applaud you for being honest about the rust issues. Most sellers try to hide it. I've built several classics and have first hand knowledge of rust. Although I believe your price is still high (considering the rust), I wish you luck in your sale.
regards, ripley
PS, fix the handbrake issue, find the oil leak and stop it and replace the heater valve. All of these are easy and will help your sale.

I would fix the problems, but I no longer have the tools or facilities to do so. I think $5k is more than generous for the car, I've been told by local Mini guys not to sell it below $7500.
And Rick, uhm... no. lol

Send him to http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4578349488 if he wants one on the cheap. It will need some work though.
Dang, even guessed correctly it was a dude.
I called and let him know about it. Since we're both at work, and both blocked from ebay, i'll have to forward it at night... but i'll definitely let him know. He wasn't looking for a prestine car, but didn't want to pay a buttload for a junker either.
Too bad i had to leave a message... i'll see what he says, just hoping you don't sell it before i get back :P

I can tell at times. Besides, girls usually say "my girlfriend" when they're talking about a female friend. I never got that... guys never say "my boyfriend" when we're talking about a male friend... or "girlfriend" for a female one, now that I think of it. It must be that whole Group Bathroom thing. :impatient
If he wants it, tell him to click Buy It Now. He can save money by getting one of those U-Haul tow dolleys and picking it up with one of those - shipping cars is pricey otherwise. It fits on a U-Haul dolley - I pulled it to Pittsburg on one once.

Jeremy - too bad alot has changed since we last talked/emailed about your classic - we're expecting and the BOSS already traded in her car. So maybe next time, K?
Good luck, I don't think you'll have any problem selling - you are probably the most hionest person I hev met when looking to buy a car!

Well, it's reliable enough, but I wouldn't ever trust an older British car, even a fully restored mint condition one, to make that drive. You'd want to tow it, or get it delivered.
