People love their parcel shelves so much that I have almost NEVER seen one sold used.

Go ahead and call Classic MINI in Ohio and get the NAM discount for the best price!

Once you have your shelf, you'll just toss out the old piece unless you are very sentimental.

Forget the liner..... it's way overpriced and the usefullness can be duplicated with shelf-liner stuff bought at the dollar store.

Really? I have enjoyed my liner...fits perfectly, keeps things in place, keeps them from rattling...it is a very good thing!

The liner IS nice, but it's tough for a cheap ba$tard to justify given it's the same price as the shelf itself! Then again, it's also the price of one tank of gas these days... I wasn't going to get the liner, but ended up finding a deal on a used one.

Being one of the aforementioned ¢heap Ba$tard$, I bought some of that rubbery shelf liner that is like the anti-skid mats for under a carpet - you know that stuff? Well, I used cardboard to make a pattern of the base and then cut the shelf liner (which is also black) to fit. The only thing I might do is affix the edges with something (glue? double-face tape?) It doesn't slide much, just once in a while.

It is real cheap, but works quite nicely! I will probably be using some of the remaining stuff in the door pockets, the rear cubbies by the speakers, and wherever else I can think of - I have a LOT left!

Sorry, my shelf isn't for sale - unless the one from my '02 won't fit into my '05? Then, I'll get back to you.

But it's not like it's made cheaply, I mean, the liner is expensive for what it is, but it's quality made, which doesn't go for a lot of things these days. It's not just a piece of die cut plastic. It's a molded piece of rubber (vinyl?) with grooves to keep things from rolling in the shelf, and textured like the dash. I'd say getting it as a kit is worth it, because then you can ignore the price of the liner, and pretend it's a freebie...

I've got one lying around somewhere I think. I'll have a look over the weekend and see if I can find it.

It'll cost you. You have to try to come to AMVIV 3.

Parcel Shelf Template

You can find a parcel shelf template right here:

http://www.metroplexmini.org/forum/s...arcel+template

The is the one I used, and like the other self-proclaims cheap b@st@rd above, I used the same grey shelf liner type material. It works great, and cost me next to nothing (I already had the liner). Very sticky stuff, nothing moves once you set it down on it.

I agree with MINIclo, the liner is perfect and I have never heard a squeak out of anything I put on the shelf. It also has nice little raised dividers that hold all my stuff apart. I think it would be more of a pain to buy the other liner and cut it to fit. For $30.00 having the OEM look and fit is worth it.

For a liner you can also get self-adhesive felt or foam at many craft stores in numerous colors. Usually about $1 for an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.
