TRADE: Your Red Cooper gascap for my chrome Cooper S gascap

I just like the looks of the red gascap better. Send me a private message if you're interested. We each pay our own shipping costs and no money needs to change hands.

I took delivery of a new 2005 Cooper S last Monday, so the chrome gascap I'm offering is basically brand new. Only been used once!! Today was the first time I filled up. I can provide pics if necessary.

Here are a few pics of my (freshly polished) chrome gascap. Note the glassy reflection, but try to ignore the fact that the rest of the car is dirty.

Are you sure these are interchangeable? I looked at our two Minis and they are not the same, although if you both have 05's then maybe they are.

yes, gascaps are interchangeable, the same mounting system is used for both.

I asked because my daughter's Cooper has a couple "bumps" in the gas cap area that would cause you to not be able to use the surround that comes with the "S" gas cap. Maybe they've been deleted on the 05's??

i'm not sure why the bumps are there, i think they are what the gas cap rests on while closed. theres nothing behind them, so it must be the rests for the cap. go figure, only BMW could put something on the car thats has no reason for being there lol

The 2005s are different!! You pop off the trim piece by the 4 tabs (see pics)

Use a mini flathead screwdriver wrapped with masking tape.

Yes. That one and the other one half way down the tube to the fuel tank. It's also kindof wedged in there, so it takes a bit of twisting and working it to get it loose.

If that is an 05 cap than they are the same from what I see in the pic. I did the install on my 03 coopers a year. It was not an easy task.

BTW I still have my cooper cap if you want it you can have it.

I'm planning to send you the gascap, the trim ring, and the entire housing - basically everything I pulled off the car this afternoon (see pic). You're planning to send the same, right? No surprises when I open the box.

That's because you're looking at the back of it. The front is very red. I dropped it off at UPS at 9ish this morning.
