heal and toe racing pedals
heal and toe racing pedals
i just saw a vendor add for some heal and toe pedals for almost 300 bucks. that is crazy. please look at the other big MINI site and look at my photo gallery with the same user name. those pedals where LESS than 100 bucks and much cooler. the person that made my pedals has been a driving instructor for many of my driving schools. he makes it all himself and the quality is great. i don't know anything about the vendor listed but that price is just silly.
Since I gave said vendor a hard time, I feel somewhat obliged to ask why you didn't post any of the relevant information in your thread either?
Specifically, pictures and contact information to purchase. I know you have good intentions, but I believe will likely fall under the category of commercial advertising (even though you're not the vendor) and could be against the site rules.

I found them on the web for $120 for the plain version and $130 for the version that has S or spells out MINI. Each pedal has a letter. I am thinking of getting that one to be a cheeky.
i didn't post any of the information because i knew i'd get into trouble with the monitors. my point was that i hope other vendors aren't charging 4 times the about that others are for similar products just because the advertise here.
i'll see if i can get my buddy to post a vendor ad on here. until then. you'll have to dig around that other site to find out who when and where or pm me.

I find the MCS stock pedals quite nicely arranged and spaced for heel and toe. I'm not sure why one would want to spend anything at all for replacements, unless purely for esthetic reasons (which as matters of personal taste need no justification).

I guess I was blessed with good driving feet, because I have no trouble at all "heel-toeing" the MINI. Maybe it's my DD width, I dunno. I think I'll probably replace the pedals with a billett set after I finish wearing the rubber out on the bottom right hand side of the brake pedal.
I'm not wealthy, but I can certainly appreciate a good design, and those $300 pedals are some of the nicer ones I've seen. Good traction surfaces, and the dead pedal even has the proper curve to fit the MINI. The devil is in the details, and I think they are probably worth it.
That being said, *I* won't be buying any! That would go a long way toward a pulley with instalation!

i think the stock MINI pedal do come up a tad short on the heel and toe set up. when your slowing down from 120 to 40 and trying to blip the gas all at once you want a LOT of foot on the brake. that's not a good time to slip off the brake. heel and toe pedals put very little space between the gas and brake.
for everyday driving using heel and toe the stock pedals will be fine. when you get into high performance driving (not on the street.....) you want to use a shoe with a thin bottom for a better feeling. this could be a true driving shoe or something like a wrestling shoe. these shoes are not wide because you want a feeling of the pedal on your foot not the extra rubber on your shoe that gives you better traction when your hiking.
now you know why you might want a narrow shoe. with that said lets go back to the space between the two important pedals. you don't want to slip off on either of them so lets get the pedals closer.
learning to drive with these pedals for everyday driving takes time. i take off my right show or both when i get in my car out of habbit. if i don't i sometimes rev the engine while braking.
heel and toe isn't somthing you should learn before you ever go to the track. you'll have way to much to think about on your first few trips than heel and toe. once you decide you want/need to learn to stay smooth on the track get some.
for anyone that has sent me a PM about my buddy that makes them, i'll send you the info asap. i spoke with him today and he's sending me his addy. we both didn't think it'd be a good idea to put out his phone number.

My favorite pedal set is the one make by Richbrook. They have a standard set for MINIs and a special set w/ a heel/toe accelerator pedal. Apparently they are (or were) used on John Cooper Challenge cars. Nice clean look.
