NEW HARMAN KARDON SPEAKERS FOR SALE!!!
Howdy!
I'm awaiting the arrival of my 03' MCS in a few weeks and bought her off the lot as is. I'm selling the HK speakers so I can put the brand of speakers I really want in my MINI. You can replace your standard speakers in you MINI to provide you better quality sound the HK's have. Email me for more info. if you're interested.
Selling the HK's for $400 + shipping. Original price is $550. I also found out from the dealership that the standard and upgraded HK have the same head unit.
For those in the San Jose, CA area...your welcome to pick up the speakers to avoid shipping charges.

THE MCS WILL ARRIVE IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS, I BOUGHT HER OUT OF STATE AS IS. WITH THE HARMAN KARDON SYSTEM ALREADY BUT I AM GOING AFTERMARKET ON THE STEREO SYSTEM.
Here is the update on this upgrade as of today.
Stock audio in coopers and MCS may or may not have the HK wiring harness. If the harness is in the car then the HK system can be added with about 4 to 5 hours of dealer labor ( this info from my dealer). If the harness is not there then forget it- it is not worth the trouble to rewire the car.
I am taking my car into the dealer so they can check the harness for compatibility with HK.
More later.

I think if the harness was present, I could do the install in about half that time. Remove door panels and rear panels, remove old speakers, install new speakers, install amp.
If the harness is not there, remove the sills under the passenger door and run LOTS of wires all over the place. Worst part will be running wires into the doors. The stock system just has two wires (+ & - to the speaker) and you will need to run two more wires (for the mid/tweeter). That will be a major pain!
PS: When I ran wiring from my HU to rear of car, I also removed the glove box to get easier access - recommended!

When considering retro-fitting, it's just like the dealer (who
owned a Mini) told me, the HK is over-rated, go with JL Audio,
MB Quart or any other premium aftermarket components and
most of them will far exceed the sound of the HK....am I glad
I did!
