This factory tube section made for MINIs 1/2005- with automatic transmissions, is used by many as a factory upgrade for the power steering fan protection. This works in conjunction with the automatic transmission lower panel which can be bought with the mounting hole / grille for the intake side. One end mounts to the front of the fan, the other mounts to the lower panel.
Special drilling and mounting is needed in some cases.
