MCS JCW: Keep JCW intake or install Mini Madness intake?

Hi All!

I just brought home my mostly new (5k miles) MCS JCW yesterday. I bought a Mini Madness CAI as part of a package deal for aero kit parts with the intent to sell it off and recover some funds. However, I've been reading and it sounds likea pretty good mod. Any opinions of whether I should keep the JCW intake or repalce it with the Madness intake? I'm already pleased iwth performance, better gas mileage would be preferred (somebody said they got better ileage with the Madness intake). I also want to keep the main engine warranty intact and don't want any trouble on that front.

Thanks in advance,
b8b

I would keep the JCW intake on. I would be surprised if you saw a difference in HP between intakes. It also keeps things looking all JCW stock... Enjoy your new mini

I like my Madness intake a lot, but the JCW is nice too. Performance gains may be minimal, maybe some below 4500 RPM, but mostly minimal. For resale, keeping the JCW look intact is a good idea, but for fun, do what you want!!!

On my 2003 JCW 207/210 the Madness intake made just under 5 whp and 4 lbs. more torqure over the last 500 rpm than the JCW intake and just over half that at the next 500 rpm.

The only issue about the JCW is the restrictive, costly paper filter. Put a K&N filter in the JCW, and get the best of both worlds:

2 ways to look @ this imo

1. If your car is a full JCW MCS then why mod it and worry about your warranty?
2. Any CAI other then the JCW will make sound all the time. The JCW is almost silent till you hit 4500rpm. If you want more noise then thats a different story.

Full JCW. Yeah, I'm just going to put a K&N in the JCW airbox just as OldRick said
