JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 2nd Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs are discussed.
Greetings everyone, I have recently acquired a 2010 mini R56 JCW. However, I was not satisfied with the wheels it came with, so I made the decision to purchase the NM Engineering RSe12 18x7.5 +45 wheels. To complement these wheels, I also acquired 215-40-18 tires. After conducting some research, I discovered that these wheels are remarkably lightweight, weighing only 18.5lbs.
I am curious to know if any of you have experience with these wheels on your mini, and if so, whether they have had any impact on the vehicle's performance.
thank you!

Just ordered a set of those wheels for my R58 in gunmetal and are waiting for my tires to arrive on Thursday. I ordered 215/40R18 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires, I should have them mounted up by this weekend and will let you know.
Just want to make sure that you did order 18" tires and not the 17" ones that you posted?
Looks great, on most MINI wheels the biggest thing you have to worry about is if you have JCW brakes or not. That determines the size and sometimes the offset and if you need spacers, on the GP2 Genuine MINI BBK then you limit it some more.
Most 17" and 18" you are ok on.
When you go smaller then that you will have issues.
1. Most factory MINI wheels are very heavy.
2. Most aftermarket wheels that are larger are still lighter then the Genuine MINI wheel of that size.
3. You will feel the difference and its huge. When you drop to oem 18" to aftermarket 17 or 16" its night and day. I ran 15" on my R52 on a track day and the wheels where like bricks with factory 17" on the track.
4. Getting off the factory runflats also is huge - ride quality goes up and weight is reduced
We have a set of these on my wife's JCW Clubman and they're great, but when I got new tires last month, they told me that two of them were bent and needed to be replaced. They showed me on the spin balance machine and they did have a noticeable wobble. I guess that's a risk with lightweight wheels. Something to be aware of.
The tires are Pirelli Cinturato P7s. It's the same tire as what came stock from the factory and we liked them, so it was the easy choice. I'll post some pics in a minute.
Ended up getting my tires mounted this morning and when I got home, ready to mount them on, I notice that they scratched one of the rims. I wondered why they loaded them up into my truck and were all nice to me. I really wasn't going to say anything but this isn't the first time they've done this and I'm not taking it anymore. They must have known and didn't even argue with me when I went back and brought it to their attention. Now they are going to have it fixed next week.
So now three of my wheels just sit in the garage teasing me.
@bluonyx man that sucks! I know that feeling. Did you purchase the wheels and tires from them? If you did just ask for a new wheel. They might have a hard time matching the color.
I purchased my set of wheels and tires from Fitmen ind.
They should come “ready to go from the box”. Anyway there’s that shipping risk.
Good luck I hope that they can fixed for you and you can get your Mini looking good! Are you going to lower your Mini?
Tires from them, wheels from OutMotoring, they had the best price. I could go pick up a new wheel since NM Engineering is just down the road from me. I'll let them try it their way and see if they can match the color. We all know wheels get damaged anyways from road debris and other stuff. It's just that I'd like to put the first blemish on it, haha.
And yes I am planning on lowering it, I was planning on doing that first but the wheel and tire expense came up first. I was blinded by the excitement when I made the Mini purchase and missed how worn the tires were, or I would have negotiated more. And then its, you know, if I'm going to get new tires I might as well get new wheels too.
I have them on my 2012 R56 JCW and I love them! Very light yet very strong! The one thing that I do appreciate about them is they're very easy to clean between the spokes.
I wanted to thank you all for the feedback! I'm excited to share that I have finally finished working on my mini R56 JCW WCC50. I've been putting in a lot of effort into fixing up its body and mechanical aspects. Now, I'm happy to say that it's up and running and I'm really pleased with the results!
Thanks again for your support!
