2023 F56 JCW hardtop Ground Clearance
I see some websites for dealers say it is 4.5”
i see other frequent quotes of it being 143mm which equates to 5.65”
i have been preening and gleaning forums and there is no clear answer.
minimum ground clearance for it?

The minimum ground clearance for a 2023 JCW is 146 mm.
I will answer my own post.
I took measurements while a 2023 JCW Hardtop was on the floor, brand new. floor was strangely clean at Freeport Mini :D
Front of the car under the bumper minimum clearance right before the tires is 7.1"
(There is a rubber aerodynamic flap that is in front of the front tires, that is super low and will die a horrible death one day. It's really fkn stupid being there and gives 4" of clearance to the ground)
The lowest body part of the car is the the Jack point bump. THAT must be thing people are measuring on the internet as the minimum ground clearance. Mini has NO DATA. the dealership had NO DATA.
That jack point is the lowest part of the body. There is, I guess, a control arm bushing/joint connector to the wheel that sticks out and connects to the wheel. Meh. I am pretty picky and detailed oriented, but if anything were to hit that and damage it, the car would be toast way before it got to that point in the rear. I would assume are you off-roading smuggling women and cocaine in the southwest or something, probably dont care about a $45k car at that point.
That jack point is 5.75". It might be 5.74" about. It is more than 5.63" by a little chunk. The generic unofficial websites show it as 143mm. That is 5.63". It is more than that. My measurement had it at about 146 mm. I know that is really close to 143, but this actually measured in several ways done today on perfectly level ground with a car that has almost 0 miles on it.
I am guessing that the web information is a few mm conservative. There is no data from Mini on this anywhere I have found searching two weeks.
No one can refute my findings. I used three people and shined optics (shiny object) and used various objects to measure. The lowest body panel point is the jack points, those hollow cheesy rectangles. I mean, it makes sense that the under-body panels are higher than the jack points. There are no bolt heads or anything that is lower than the jack points. Those suspension arms on the rear go lower but if you look, should be meaningless for snow. If ice hits them, youre a moron and really really unlucky. They peep out and snow would first be smushed at high speed in front of it by the protector boxes, leaving only a little bit after to contact.

Those flaps in front of the wheels actually help with aerodynamics and help reduce drag around the spinning tire. Honestly, I think you’re being a little paranoid concerning ground clearances. Everything you measured is at static. Once moving and the tires are following the road, most of what you measured doesn’t really come into play. My Clubman is significantly lowered from stock, and it’s rare that I scrape on anything, unless I’m really not paying attention.

Everything you measured is at static. Once moving and the tires are following the road, most of what you measured doesn’t really come into play. My Clubman is significantly lowered from stock, and it’s rare that I scrape on anything, unless I’m really not paying attention.

I am deciding, and i have two days left, between a Golf R and this Iconic JCW hardtop. Both manual gearboxes. Mini is on order. Golf R is sitting there ready to go. Mini will take probably until the end of October or beginning of November.
This is the comparison: Mini was said, by two dealerships, to have a 4.7" ground clearance. That would mean it is identical to the Golf R's clearance. There is no question that the Golf R is more winter worthy than a Mini JCW hardtop, particularly for getting up hills (FWD sucks going up hills, my RWD cars with LSD's and snow tires are awesome at it.) Now that i know it has an inch more of clearance, it is neck and neck. The Golf R seems more responsible to get for the future of hauling things? The mini is beautiful though x30. hm
The Golf R has a LSD in the rear some lame crap in the front like the Mini JCW. The JCW Mini has just lame crap + open differential. I had a 2006 new MCS manual gearbox with factor Clutch-LSD. I would turn off "DSC" and grind out of spots like a badger on crack in the winter. The huge rubber surrounds made it able to push through a little snow if i misjudged it. I would have to install and want to, and would not drive one unless it had it, a Wavetrac LSD. That sort of sucks. BUT then i found out on my own today measuring that the JCW is a solid One Inch taller than the Golf R. That has more of an impact than all wheel drives, i feel, when they did a crap job of plowing. So, now on the fence.
The Golf R is lapis blue and 20th anniversary edition. -80 lbs about for no sunroof. The JCW on order also has no sunroof. I really dislike those things.
A very different car, but I am into unusual. I have a really fast car already, but no sense in driving a slow or ugly car regardless of what i buy. Monday i go and see if they will knock off the obnoxiously large "ADM" on the Golf R. The mini is more of the car I want, but the Golf R has all wheel drive and clearly has 2.5x storage space. At least 2x. I never fold down seats. For trips and going to clubs, and driving on hills in ice and snow. I dont need a daily driver as I bought a building to be my office next to my house almost. My other car is a Porsche 718 Boxster T. (manual gearbox of course)

that is a very good point. but i like manual gearbox cars. It USED to be available, and it was AWESOME. my neighbor had it, was beautiful.
if a Clubman had a manual gearbox option again, i would swing that. Small enough for certain. But, the manual thing is where I have been for all my cars. I almost bought a Hellcat with one for weirdness sake, but they canceled its availability the moment i looked one. now they have them but i already own now a new expensive car, mini or golf R will be the more normal car. First four seater in quite a few years.
any opinions on R vs Mini JCW? I am leaning to the mini every time but the Golf R seems just a bit more responsible for getting up icy hills after storms in NY.
What are your opinions on adding a Wavetrac LSD? I mean, for one it voids the warranty, right? I mean, that's disconcerting. More so though is thinking about the process of installing it when i really do not have a speed shop, and certainly no Mini group here (that i know of) any longer.
