Dinan Elite CEL all of a sudden

So have been running my Dinan Elite for 15k plus miles. I have not had one CEL. Then all of a sudden I am getting them all of the time. I removed the Elite for a month and no CEL. Put it back on tonight and CEL second start. Always same code (over boost pressure). Anyone else with a similar issue?

Sounds pretty typical for the Dinan. I've seen lots of posts on here about similar problems. Some people have gotten their dealer to replace the chip, with varying results.

Yah know CEL is a common issue with Dinan's but most people have issues from day one. Strange is started after almost two years. I have reached out to Dinan to see what they will do.

If that's a clipon box then it's toss it in the dumpster time unfortunately. But the car is OK that's the important thing right?

I had this same issue with my Dinan Sport Module. I uninstalled it for a week or 2 and then reinstalled it. I haven't had any issues with it since then. (Knock on Wood)

so Dinan hooked me up and they are going to replace the unit. Yes the car seems to be fine. When I remove the Dinan CEL clears and everything is fine.

I've had the same issue with mine twice now. The second one i got worked well for a while but it eventually caused the engine to misfire on multiple cylinders. Turns out, the engine was running so rich that it turned the spark plugs black. Not only that, apparently the wiring harness was damaged too. Dinan replaced the unit again but i had to pay 600 dollars out of pocket to get the spark plugs replaced. At this point i'm just waiting for them to release a flash tune and eventually i'll install better plugs to cope with it. Hope this helps!

IMO you should only do an ECU tune not use a clipon device. The guy who did my tune on my JCW Coupe in Tempe said at least half his customers had bought the boxes first.

I have had the NM module on my F56 JCW since early 2017 and never had any issues.

I used to have the NM and replace with the Elite. Much better power with the Elite but I guess you get the CEL

I put on the new ECU and got the CEL again, They did not send harness so I guess it could be a bad harness.

What horsepower and torque are you producing the Dinan Elite?

Sounds about right for Dinan. Same thing happened to me except when I decided I didn't want a second replacement when the original and first replacement stopped working Dinan decided I wasn't getting a refund. Garbage company.

they told me the harness is on back order and will send when it comes in. Yes they are not the company they used to be since they got purchased.

I got the harness yesterday. So far that has resolved the CEL issue.

Just for the record.

Dinan Elite dealer installed (Mini of Peabody - Mass.) on 9.21.2018 @ 26,197 miles
Mustang chassis Dyno - Bren Tuning - 255 whp, 286 wtq on 11.27.2018 @ 34,159
Replaced no charge by MoP (codes: 11B213, 119002) on 4.29.2019 @ 42,901

I am now at 75,803 miles and have had no difficulties at all.

Cheers,

Charlie

Good luck. Mine has been off and on since day one. Diana replaced the unit and the situation continues. The good thing is that even when the CEL is on, there is no impact on the car ... it runs fine and makes great power. After a few starts it will go off; however, it always comes back. I love the power and smoothness, but the CEL is irritating.

Yep. Same **** even with replacement module. CEL lights up almost every 3rd start after clearing. Wtf.

So I have seen the CEL light on a lot of cars that have the wrong Elite. If you have the JCW you have to have the JCW unit. A lot of places will not put the correct unit on the car.

Update:
Received new unit and harness ( build dated 2020, previous versions were dated Sep 2019) <------THIS may be what you need to check, build date on the Dinan ECU and harness= seems like late 2019 version possibly were bad.

No issues at all, drove over 300 miles hard, ignition cycled over 3 times and no CEL pops up. Add this with the Sprint booster....biggest smile will appear on your face.

I am totally impressed at Dinan for their Customer Service, they had no hesitation in sending me another unit, and even offering refund.
I wanted to try one more new unit AND new harness before giving up.

Glad I did! POWER is sooo awesome with the Elite!!!!
