Which shifter is standard now?

Sorry should have posted this in the 3rd Gen JCW section, sorry, half asleep...

So when I test drove a new 19 JCW is had this shifter...

but now I'm seeing pics for this one on the 19 JCW's as well...

So which one is it? Curious what's going to come on my build. I guess I could ask the dealer but I feel more secure with all the knowledgeable guru's here instead.

I have owned a Cayman with a DSG. The current JCW 6-speed may not be as good as the Porsche DSG, but it is darn close, especially in sport mode. It shifts fast and hard and rev matches on downshifts. Also, the current Aisin transmission is very durable. I have a '17 Audi S6 with a DSG and it's great, but the Audi and Porsches with DSG should never kept as longterm, high mileage drivers. When the trannies go, 10,000 to 20,000 dollars. No thanks.

the dct **** can be retrofitted to a standard auto. This is a popular mod on auto bmw's.

Cool, I'm going to have to look that one up. Just wish I could try it out first, to see how it feels in my hand. I just might try it.

You're not swapping the Mini's mechanical shifter that is used for the Aisin automatics for the new electronic DCT one.

motive mods make kits to do exactly what you say cant be done. I had this mod on my old e90 335i. I'm sure if there was enough interest they would build a kit.

Motive Mods doesn't appear to have any for Aisin transmissions.

how hard would it be to retrofit this shifter on to a 2019 mini countryman F60? does it requite coding? I recently drove a 2021 Countryman that was a loaner and it had the new shifter.

any information you can provide is much appreciated.

Jason
