Just picked up my new JCW - Now What?

So I just picked up my 2019 JCW. Love it....but just cant leave it alone. Due to some hiccups, the dealership has offered me some pretty good pricing on some parts. Looks like I can get the JCW Pro exhaust installed for $1800 out the door. Also offering the roof top box and roof rails for $600 out the door. I'm, prob going with the exhaust....I know Remus may be a "little" better, but at this price point they become about the same. Just not sure about the roof top box. Is there really a need to go with the "Mini" brand...or heck do I really need the box at all? Really glad to have the JCW in my garage. I traded a car that I really loved, and hope to have just as much fun in the Mini world.

We have similar taste looks like! Great looking JCW!
I ordered mine with pro exhaust and CF tips. I think the best upgrade is front spoiler and rear diffuser. Makes the car look so much more aggressive.

$1800 out the door I think was about the same price I was offered at my dealership, so not sure how much of a deal you are getting. I would say no to JCW exhaust and go with the Remus. I did not know it when I got the Remus but your setting on the Remus stays after you turn off the car. JCW Exhaust has to be opened every time. It is aggravating enough to have to switch to sport mode every time, would hate having to also have to open the exhaust each time. I did not get the Mini bars or box, planning on getting Yakima or Thule at later date as they have so many more options. It cost me about $600 dollars to add UV Tint to the windows and that has really helped with the heat inside the car this summer.

When I picked up my 2016, I added the pro exhaust. No roof rails. Totally ruins the looks of the car.

You don't have to double-tap blue tooth to open exhaust:

1. Start car
2. Double tap blue tooth to open exhaust
3. Open hatch, then open access panel on passenger side
4. Unplug bluetooth connection.
5. Replace access panel cover

No more double-tapping until/unless you reconnect bluetooth

That's another problem with the JCW exhaust ... you have to double tap to open exhaust, Remus just one tap..lol
I agree if you are going to pull the plug then it will stay open. But I do like the option of closing it from inside the car when I need to, like when going by a cemetery when a funeral is going on, church services, etc.
Only other thing is the number of posts I have seen about the JCW reacting to software issues or other bluetooth devices. I have not seen those issues reported for Remus.
Does the JCW exhaust have different levels open like Remus has i.e. closed, 10% open, 50% open, 100% open?
Both are good exhausts but costs for me was so close that I went with the Remus and love it.

I got the BimmerCode app and a bluetooth OBDII plug, and now my car always starts in sport mode, and the windows can be rolled up from the keyfob (in addition to be able to lower them with it), and there are a host of other settings you can tinker with.

Highly recommended.

I have the reader just need to download the app. Do you know if they have found the code that turns off Rev Matching? Sometimes I like have all the stability controls turned on but hate the rev matching. Assuming there is some code for it since it can be manually turned off by switching off all the stability controls.

I have heard on the BMW forums that if you code out the "clutch to start" in the app (meaning not having to push in the clutch to start the car), it will also turn off Rev Match. But I didn't see that option by itself in the app, however, it might be possible in the advanced coding part of it. I haven't ventured into the advanced stuff yet, unfortunately.

If your dealer is a Dinan installer, I'd try to trade the JCW Pro exhaust for the Dinan Elite box. I know my JCW needs a louder exhaust but I think I'll opt for a Magnaflow box from a local shop or maybe just remove a resonator instead of a system swap.

PS: congrats on your car! I know you had a LONG wait, so enjoy, and drive in good health!

Another ran of the Remus exhaust. Just returned from an 8,800 mile cross country trip that included MTTS and I absolutely love the Remus. I kept it 100% open the entire time ... great idle sound, lots of pops and bangs, and no drone at all. Plus the setting stays where you left it.

22psi and boost is controlled with RPM to keep power very progressive and light on the pistons.

its safe becuause of how progressive the power is made. I have replaced lots of JB4, Dinan, RC, and NM piggy backs. The change very is dramatic.
I do suggest colder spark plugs with a tighter gapping. My downpipes for the F series have a unique bung so they don’t throw a CEL

i was just going to suggest that. Once you unplug....the flap will continue to stay open. In fact my Mini “Genius” showed me how to do it while at the dealership. Basically about a 20 second process.

If the standard JCW exhaust is always open on both sides, what does spending the extra money on the Pro Exhaust really do then? is it worth it to then close and open it back up?

I don't have the pro exhaust on my clubman, but the right exhaust does have a flap that opens in sport mode and closes when in mid/green.

Yes, on the stock JCW exhaust, both are always open AFTER passing through the muffler. There's only one downpipe and one exhaust pipe to the back of the car. 2 exhaust tips then come out of the muffler (for looks) out the back of the car. The pro exhaust splits that 1 stock exhaust pipe into 2. One side goes into the muffler and the other STRAIGHT out the back of the car. So by opening the flap exhaust goes AROUND the muffler.

Does the 2019 JCW come with the JCW Tuning Kit w/exhaust flap system (with remote) or do you have to add it to the build. Or does it not come with it at all? I just placed a build this afternoon.

So I have a crazy question, you have a JCW exhaust with both pipes open and you r spending 1800 to have one of the 2 open and close? is there an actual gain in performance or sound? Just curious as it seems like a big waste of money....only curious??
