I have to do some brake work on the black Charger first...plus fix a few other items, then it goes up for sale. The yellow Charger already has a new home in Missouri

After reading the service manual on how to remove the transmission via taking out the lower sub frame & components......I'm re-thinking about just pulling the entire engine & trans out the top together like last time.

FWIW, when I took mine to the indy shop that I use that has a lot of experience with first Gen MINIs, they said it was about the same either way, but they preferred, to pull the engine and trans together (they were working with a full shop, lift, etc). I don't think you can go wrong either way.

The manual says to get the car aligned after sub frame R&R....I really don't want to spend another $100 for a second alignment.....plus, I have already had the experience of pulling the drivetrain as a complete unit already....so there shouldn't be any surprises this time around. It will also save me the $$ in purchasing the engine holding bar

I went with the single style flywheel, it's not the Valeo brand. I found it on Amazon for $275 for the complete kit. Single stage flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and new flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolt's.

Kit was sold and shipped from Megaparts company. I have dealt with them for a long time dealing with my Chargers in getting parts. Very reputable company.

I can get you the name of the clutch kit and number of the kit if anyone is interested

Hey there Bryan,
I am clearing out a bunch of stored stuff in preparation for a move and came across an almost "mint condition" MCAW (Mini Cooper Automatic Window) circuit Rev 3a that I had used on my 2005 S.
Complete with printed installation instructions AND an auxiliary lead for using the garage door open feature! I have no idea if your JCW already has the ability to "one touch" the windows but seeing that I have no use for it and my last attempt to sell it on NAM did not get any takers it's yours... no charge... yes I said FREE!!!
If you are interested I can ship it down to you, I am up here in beautiful BC.. lol.
Let me know and should be able to get it off to you in the not too distant future, certainly before window down weather arrives.
Cheers,
Grampa

Update: 4/5/2021

I think I have all the parts now to do the transmission swap in the little "Mini from Hell"....

Have the LSD transmission
Trans fluid
Single mass flywheel kit
17% SC pulley
Rear main seal and axle seals

On another note, rally lights are now installed

Update 5/2/2021
Car is in the garage to start going under the knife again... need to replace the transmission with one from Allmag... pulling the engine and transmission together as a unit.

Also installing the 17% pulley on the supercharger while it's out

Update: 5/14/2021

Car is all back together and running again. New Valeo style clutch with single mass flywheel, 17% pulley and new belt

I have not had a chance to take it out and drive it hard to see how it does with the new pulley, but I think from what little I have driven it, I'm going to like it. The clutch feels great, grabs good and firm, no excess noise either.

Update: 8-18-2021

The little R52 is still working well, knock on wood.... haven't driven it as much lately, life has gotten in the way.

I did get the LED corner lights installed, they look great. Also found out that all my windows go down at once when I push the "window down" button on the window header. I have an "up" module here, not sure if I'm going to install it though.

Pictures of corner lights below

Looks good!

Haven't been doing much but driving mine either. Lots of work on the Mustang this summer. I need to do an alignment and tune, then it's drivable.

Update: 9-4-2021

I think the ignition switch is going out on the car....sometimes it will not turn over, and sometimes the NAV screen will not turn on. At times, the convertible top will not open as well unless I turn the key back and forth a few times.....sounds like the contacts inside the switch are failing....

New switch is anywhere from $25 up to $100, depending on where I am looking at the time....

Bryan (just another thing to fix)

Guess I am not done....I figured that I have repaired or replaced most everything else....oh well...new ignition switch is $35 with a lifetime warranty....just not sure if it's the car's lifetime, or mine...LOL

The brakes and other items on the black Charger are done....all it needs now is a clutch disc....I will leave that to the next owner

I will update this thread when the new ignition switch is in

Black? Why do I have purple in my head?

I was asking about your wing car, but also remember that you have more than 1 Charger.

Sounds like you're selling? Hopefully not the wing car.

Hi Bryon, hope all is well. Could you describe your experience with the 17% pulley? Good and bad?
thanks,

Hey Bryan, Were you able to get this sorted out yet?
I still have not figured out why my fob will no longer do anything anymore. I hope I can get this sorted out at some point! It bums me out! It is not the mirror. Maybe the ignition switch, Just have no idea at this time,
Itsme Wayne

Wayne....I did get the new ignition switch in.....so far, it's cranked over every time, and the NAV screen has turned on every time.....have not checked the convertible top issue yet....been raining most every day here, which we really needed. I'm fairly certain the issue with my fey fob is in the mirror, I know my key is sending a signal, at least that's what the dealer told me. I'm not buying a $750 mirror from overseas
