So I ordered my JCW one week ago, and today was eyeballing every line of the spec sheet, when I noticed "all season tires" had been added to my build. (I know, I know, I should picked up on this before leaving the dealer. My bad )

I called the MA, and the order is now locked & cannot be changed. With that, what tires should i expect to get when my car is delivered?

 

Doesn't matter, all of the factory tires are run-flats. Just replace them with something better at your first opportunity. It will transform the car.

I got my car in Scottsdale so got "summer" RF tires. Handled great but needed replacing at 16k miles.

 

Mine came with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Run Flats. I still have them on my stock wheels in the corner of my garage, lol. They actually were decent for my first track day in the car, mainly because it was a wet day. But they were only on the car for a few thousand miles before my TD Pro Race 1.2's came in, and I added the Michelin Sport Cup 2s.

 

Thanks. I have some experience with runflats, as they were equipped on my R53 in 2010. Replacing those tires was one of the first changes made to that MINI.

I was actually surprised at how civil the newer runflats were on my test drives of '18/'19 JCWs & S models, though it's probably also the new suspension that helped the ride. I'll give whatever tires my new JCW comes with a fair shake: I'll certainly drive them up til MOTD next year, and might even take them up to the Dragon, but we'll see.

The runflats will be replaced by Conti Extreme Contact Sport or Michelin PSS, sooner rather than later, probably.

 

My '18 came with $50 walmart special Hankook's run flats. I like them actually.

 

My 2016 JCW came with Dunlop RFs that were undoubtedly the crappiest tires I have ever had on any of my cars. I took it to the MOTD in 2016 and the first hard run resulted in a knot the size of a tennis ball on the side of the tire! I had Michelin onsite install a set of Michelin pilot sport A/S 3s on the mini the next day and they are an acceptable tire for year round use. They definitely don't grip as well as the MPSSs, but they are a good tire. After 35,000 miles I am on set #3 now. I don't track the car, but I do drive it hard and frequent the Tail of the Dragon often.
