2018 F56 JCW Key Fob window roll-up and mirrors

Just received my F56 JCW, US Version. The manual says that after you lock the car with the Key Fob that if you press and hold the lock button on the fob that the mirrors will turn up. I have also seen on You-Tube for some 2014-2017 models that it also rolls up the windows . This is not working on my fob.

Anyone have a 2018 2 door hardtop JCW model were this works for them?

you have to have the dealer code it for you (called comfort close), or you can use an obd adapter and code it yourself using the bimmercode app. I highly recommend doing it yourself as there's lots of other cool things you can change too.

Definitely do it yourself there is a lot of annoying things you can program out too. Like seatbelt alerts.

2018s will have mirror folding turned on, but aftermarket coding is needed to turn on windows (and mirrors on <2018s). There's a few threads on using ESYS (better, but more complicated), or Bimmercode (iOS/Android app, not as powerful, but more user friendly) to do all sorts of other things too.

sirius, did MINI include the feature to aim the passenger mirror at the curb when in reverse, yet? BMW supports it, but I don't recall it ever making it to the MINI brand...

If you have powerfold mirrors I think you have to have the selection switch set to driver's side for it to work. Going by memory here, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

My wife's 2018 Clubman definitely does that. I don't remember if the switch needs to be on passenger or driver for it to work, but the feature is there. Personally, we both prefer to not have that one so it's on the side that turns it off.

Weird. I havent had a chance to hit the manual yet, just having picked it up last night, but there's definitely the mirrors-up button... but I didn't see the mirror move when parking. I'll check today...

This is correct. Only cars with the 'Auto-Dimming, Power-Folding Mirrors' option will tilt the passenger side mirror to point down when in reverse, and the mirror adjustment switch must be in the driver's position.

On the subject of the 'Comfort Close' option, all F57 convertibles should have this feature, and I discovered a random Carbon Edition 4 door that had this feature as a fluke once.

If it's something the dealer can code per request, that would be cool. I'll ask one of my techs and get back.

I bet that's what threw me: my MA said the switch had to be in the right (domestic passenger) position. I'll try it in the driver's (left) position and see what's what. Those JCW rims are screaming, just BEGGING, to be shaved flat by a tall SF curb at any minute...

Update:

I talked to one of our lead technicians, and he said he's never seen any retrofit coding options for a comfort close feature.

Not through a dealer, but through 3rd party tools, this is possible.

After posting in this thread, I got curious and ended up finding a thread talking about an app called BimmerCode. When paired with a Bluetooth OBD dongle, it gives you the ability to turn on and off features that would only be available on cars sold in other markets.

Thanks to Amazon's super quick shipping, I now have the comfort close feature on my JCW. And tire temperatures, and Sport mode on start, and many other things.

Following up for the sake of following up, not only do I, yes, have the tilt down side mirror in reverse for parking, but I also have, unexpectedly, the window rollup (and mirror tilt) on lock and hold via remote. I remember when we supposedly couldn't have that feature because again, supposedly, kids and dogs were at extreme guillotine peril. ha

As the 2019s keep coming in, I've discovered that they all have the comfort close feature enabled. Not sure why they changed their minds, but it's a welcome change.

For those who were curious, the tool I bought to code with is a Vgate iCar Pro for OBD2, and I got it from Amazon for $29. Paired with the Bimmercode app for iPhone (another $26), I can turn on any feature that BMW keeps on the top shelf away from the reach of US customers. Tire temperatures, comfort close for pre-'19 cars, as well as cool hacks like starting in sport mode, not honking when you lock the car with the engine running, or even changing your iDrive startup screen and chime sounds to the BMW or Rolls Royce stuff.

I was JUST popping in to comment on the same thing, Carfreak... I wanted to clear some CELs so I got two different scan modules, but preferred the Vgate. It works well with Bimmercode, and the on board LEDs are helpful, as the other one was a blind box. Oddly, the Vgate pairs with Bimmercode but not the other apps I've tried. Anyway, the other note is that Bimmercode lets you make the programming changes, but I had to bite on Bimmerlink ($30) to actually read the CELs (and even then, it reports BMW specific values which don't always align with the MINI P series numbers in an obvious way. I had four or five cheap or free scan apps but I couldn't get any to talk tot he car with the two bluetooth-based modules I tried.
