New member in MI - Wheel question!

Hi Gentlemens!

I'm Jonathan, new to US (coming from France), and I live near Detroit, MI.

I just took delivery of a mini JCW :

-Black, red roof
-Confort access, Cold weather package, sunroof, connected XL, Harman/kardon, DCC
-Manual of course

Here is the baby beast :

Yesterday I just fitted the RaceChip Ultimate :

Still in factory configuration. Road was slippy this morning, but here is the screen of the skid pad under acceleration :

I still have my Pirelli P7 (seriously what are these tires? Why THIS on a JCW??).

I want to find Team dynamics pro race 1.2 (17x7.5 ET45), and high perf tires (215/45).

I found :

-Wheels at outmotoring.com : 915$
-Pilot Super sport at tirerack : 600$
-TMPS on Ebay : 150$

The total is a whooping 1600+ $, without tire installation.

Any advices, shops, or maybe someons is selling some wheels ?

Cheers,

Jon

Welcome to NAM. You could try simpletire.com. They might be able to save you a few dollars. I have purchased from them and they are very good to work with for tires.

I purchased my rims from Discount Tire. I changed to 18" rims for the warmer weather and the original 17" for the winter. Simple Tire actually gave me a list of their installers and I just went with the shop nearest to me.

I do not believe they will rub. You are not changing the width by much only 10mm. I had 225/45 R18 on my car before I installed lower springs and had to change to 205/40 R18. I am not running stock rims though.

I have Enkei TS-10 18" Wheel Rims which I got on TireRack with Pirelli P ZEROs and TPMS fitted, balanced and delivered. Although not a grippy at the Michelin, the Pirellis are a good choice in my opinion.

I ran 215/45X17 on my original Tentacle Spokes. I'm still running the same size on my NM RSe05 wheels now.

Nice! It is the first picture making me like these wheels ! The car is lowered?

I know it works on mini S, but I fear the rubbing against the strut with the tricky oem design of the track spoke..

a great place to get the TD 1.2 is eBay. there is a seller in California that imports them---has a lot in stock and great prices. Ive purchased 2 sets from him over the years---including the current ones on my '13 MCS. fast shipping wheels are perfect.

sellers user name is importalloys2011
