JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
As some of you may know, last weekend I purchased a great Chili Red '06 JCW and so I figured I would go ahead and introduce myself and the car here before I start the process of making it mine (aka minification).
Details:
2006 CR/B with Blk Bonnet Stripes
Premium Pkg
Sport Pkg
Cold Weather Pkg
Convenience Pkg
JCW pkg
Chrono pkg
H/K
R98 web spokes
Mods/parts to be moved from my R52 to the JCW:
R90s
JCW Alcantara steering wheel
OEM glovebox organizer
MINI FINI cupholder
Euro Parcel Shelf
CF M7 APD
M7 strut tower plates
Silverline bulbs
Planned modifications (short and long term):
Zippee sunroof shades.
Replace upper grill with OEM aero grill (maybe Black M7 ultimate grills one day)
Add OEM black fog light surrounds
Replace e-brake handle and boot with CF and Alcantara to match shifter
Paint rear calipers
Replace taillights with OEM euro tails with clear indicators.
Basically, I plan to do some OEM+ mods to make it "mine" and I'd love to here any suggestions or advice you all have as I start out living the JCW life.
My plan is that this will be an "good weather" DD to the tune of 8kish miles a year....
very nice. I was looking long and hard for euro code taillights. I liked the preface lift euro. so I retrofitted my facelift taillights to pre. If you cant find them here. as the part numbers I was looking for are NLA. but I was able to find them out of the UK.

The plan is to go with the facelift euros, which I think will be cheaper from a U.K. Vendor due to the exchange rate at the moment. Otherwise, ECS has them and I almost bought a set for my 'vert. If I had a pre-facelift car I would probably want the NLA ones.
How did you configure a reverse light since you replaced the tails?

Now for pics!!!
Nice Mini's. Love the Tacoma in the next driveway too.
Hi AreoJammin,
Both of your Minis look great. Congrats on your JCW buy! That Mini Is freakin great! I am a chrono pack guy and have two of them. An 05 S and 06 S JCW. Love the 06 Chrono package! Yeah, I am a Dealer, but this is my personal car! Itsme Waynes 05 S Itsme Wayne's 05 s Chrono package
On the mods, you can go with handling mods, motor mods or both. A buddy just went with coil overs and lowered the car. I went with cam, bigger injectors and a tune but kept the stock JCW exhaust/hdr system. I don't track or autocross so a little more power is my liking.
A JCW is the top line of our cars, a JCW with another 30 HP is just a little bit sweeter.
Post Dragon JCW update! I didn't have much time, but I did manage to add the upper aero grill and aero fog surrounds. Apparently, I waited a bit too long to do the fog surrounds as they went NLA right before I went to buy them. Short version is that after trying ECS, Outmotoring, MINI of Seattle, a dealer in RI, and MINI of Plano, I finally found a set at MINI of Kennesaw. Both MINI of Seattle and MINI of Plano let me know that Kennesaw had some in stock, which I really appreciated. Lesson: If you want aero fog surrounds and see them...don't hesitate.
Next on the list is to get a pair of under bonnet eye decal (cause I think they are fun) and install a JCW Alcantara steering wheel.
It's been a little while, so I guess it is time for an update since I finally installed some parts to get ready for MOTD2018. I got my JCW alcantara steering wheel installed and finally got my shipment of clear euro taillights put in. Recently I was able to find a JCW (old logo) e-brake handle and purchased some replacement wheels so stay tuned for more (just be patient as apparently I am bad about actually installing parts....). In the meantime, here are some photos!
got a NOS set of BBS R90s and wrapped them in Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s. Of course that means that I finally got to use the 4 JCW wheel center caps I pieced together over a couple years. They are a bit weathered, but I also got a set of replacement center cap stickers (going to run the originals for now) for later.
also bought a JCW Strut Tower bar from DavisFlyer (thanks!) and a GP outdoor cover for those times when I take the JCW to the airport.
still hunting for an affordable set of JCW CF steering wheel inserts (or at least the center piece) that has all their tabs and of course other things too!
Looking good! Our cars are very similar, even down to the wheels and center caps lol. I recently found the lower CF insert for the steering wheel. They don’t last long when posted for sale, will keep a watch out for you.
Great purchase very similar to mine but I have an R52 JCW
Did lots customization etc and maintenance.
Thoughts of installing a GP1 intercooler.
please any feed back would be gladly appreciated it.
if I could find a GP1 intercooler for $500 I’d probably get one, otherwise it’s not worth it to me since I don’t track this car. Of course, once I find all my JCW goodies, GP goodies would be the next step as I want to keep this car generally period correct and OEM+.
