JCW Power Up!!!
This looked interesting until I read more of the fine print. Seems to be a one size fits all unit. The dyno sheet on the product page is for a B38 motor. Guess I'll stick with my NM.
why not wait until the dyno sheets come in then we can take a dyno from your set up and then do an over ley to see how both products perform.
Comparing dyno runs done on different dyno's is rarely an accurate way to compare different cars... Before and after results are perhaps of more importance e.g. +40 bhp & +50 lbs/ft torque
If done on the same dyno in same conditions that would be a fair reflection...
I suspect that most of these plug in tuning boxes will give similar results though

If you read carefully, the unit is designed to recognize the engine type that it's installed in. Don't think there's a wrong or right here but just preference. But in terms of BMW tuning I trust Dinan more than any other out there. I'll stick with my DS. Thanks.
Totally agree on this. Thanks
i don't know, but my gut tells me that if you open up the NM module and the dinan module (and even the AC Schnitzer module), they're the same thing. they may display it differently, but it's the same thing.
my opinion is that both dinan and AC were trying to break the full DME in order to deliver a true tune but when they failed to do so, they released this to a) jump on the bandwagon and b) make some quick $$$
again, just my $0.0.2.
reference this link and read up on it...it's an old article but it does summarize my thoughts..it does discuss ECU flashing moreso than anything, but i'm treating it the same as piggyback's...all come from the same source:

until the full DME is cracked (which supposed manic has made great progress), we're going to have a lot of companies come out with their own version of the same stuff.

As requested by our UK brother; 3rd gear redline pull, 80mph, 1.2 bar psi on my JCW chrono pack, 91*F(33*C) ambient temp. Prob could've done better in a non-public road.

What RPM range does it kick in?
If you are talking about the DinanTronics unit I can give a little input. I have been runing it on F56 since Early May 2016. Have put about 2,500 miles on car and run 3 autocrosses with Local BMW club. (GGCBMW Golden Gate Chapter BMW) I live close to Dinan in Morgan Hill CA. They have been great for me and I can say that car is putting out 227 HP at the wheels 5,000 RPM runing on 91 octane.
no the dinan, but here's my track run with the JB4, on map2, larger FMIC, downpipe, and i datalogged boost, Ambient, IAT, Oil Temp, and water temp.
hope this helps for comparison purposes...

If Dinan happens to need a modded f55 for some comparisons on power module, I happen to be a local and close by. Love my Nm module but variety is the spice of life!!! Let's put these tune on the dyno for a side by side comparison. Willing to purchase the unit if the numbers and my butt dyno gives it a thumbs up.
Perfect location for box
Check to make sure the wires do not interfere with radiator cooling fans under snorkel. mine got the insulation shaved off. I have them tie wrapped under there now. Had to add a little tape to protect them. I am still moving mine around thinking about putting it under the heat shield. Still undecided on that one need to get some more temperature reading to find the best environment for box. No since over cooking it if it can be avoided. So far the hottest spot I have found was the exposed cylinder heat and it only measured 135° F.
Valet mode is a great option to have. It would be perfect if the rev limiter can be set to a lower RPM, too.
We shall see Kanf. Dinan has the name and reputation for working with Bmw. There doesn't seem to be that many people we know of running it, or side by side comparison with the other units. Hope Bill Mini has a bit more information for us after his dyno day with Dinan Later today. Happy Friday everyone!
How did your car perform at Dinan today?
Unfortunately we had to push Bill a bit as we had some M2 work that needs/needed to be completed in preparation for Monterey car week. We still want to bring him in for some testing and other stuff as well its just trying to fit everything in during this hectic couple weeks is well...hectic.
