Launch control on the new JCW

Hi all,

I've just been browsing and noticed that launch control is available on the new JCW.

My question is, is it only available on the Auto gearbox? I've placed an order for the 6MT..

Not sure if you are serious or not

Launch control is a function of the automatic transmission. It uses a COMPUTER to control the shift points and RPM of the car to generate the quickest possible acceleration.

In a manual transmission, the DRIVER controls the RPM and shifting, therefore, launch control is a matter of skill built into the DRIVER.

Haha, no ulterior motive here. It was a genuine question until 20 seconds after being sent, after which the answer became apparent.

Seems like others were interested in the response based on the view count, so thanks for posting all the same!

I don't think you want to be disappointed as the manual says:

Do not use Launch Control too often; otherwise, this may result in premature wear of components due to the high stress placed on the vehicle.
Not something that sounds too desirable.

In general launch control is available on many manual transmission vehicles. It will limit the revs to your preferred choice only when you're in a static position. For example a friend of mine has an Evo that is setup to hold 6200 rpm.

How this feature works on the new mini is unknown to me though. I just wanted to state that this is a valid question for manual transmission cars.
