Anyone order this cool green color?

From the motoringfile today, there are a bunch of pix of this green JCW. It's so dark I thought it was my color (Eclipse Gray) but it's green. I remember a special Mini limited edition JCW about 2012-3 called the WC50, and it was a very dark green like this. Maybe it's the same color.

A couple of the guys on WhiteRoofRadio have seen it in person, and they said it looks like the same color green as the WC50.

Mine will be rebel green, with a black roof. My wife said the red roof made it look like a Christmas tree. The black roof is a bit more subtle, doesn't stand out as much...

Christmas tree lol! Whatever it is it looks great. I would opt for it (with the red of course).

This is the same color code, just a different name. This was confirmed by MINI during the JCW launch.

I owned a WC50 #425 and have seen Rebel Green in person, and was one of the many voices lobbying MINI to make this color available.

Yeah I'm surprised only one person on this forum has ordered it. The fact that only several hundred Minis in this color were ever made is cool. And I think only 1/3 of those were sold in the US.

Only 50 out of 500 were imported to the U.S. It was the most rare color, well until now that is

It is indeed a cool color, BUT why $1,000 extra instead of only $500 for the other metallic colors. Does it cost the factory even $1 more for this paint?

Actually, why even $500 for the other metallics? While I can understand that it's a little more costly to paint metallic than standard paint, most new cars seem to offer metallic at zero additional cost.

I'd feel better about the Rebel Green if there is at least a little financial justification. (Same question applies to their Lapis blue).

I like the Rebel Green. As soon as I showed it to my wife she said it looked like a Christmas tree. That's all I needed to hear. Cool color though.

Rebel Green is actually non-metallic. The price premium is hard to justify. Perhaps due to the limited amount they will use/produce, but more likely just a marketing tactic.

For comparison, there was no special paint charge for the WC50 and those had to be painted by hand outside of the normal assembly line.

The black wheels make its better, like the WC50. Post up pics when you get it.

I love the non-metallic aspect. I hope MINI pushes the envelope with wild non-metallic paints, like BMW did in the early 2000s.

Or offering colors like they did for the BMW 2002

My 1967 Austin Cooper S was stolen in August 1972. Thinking they'd never recover it, I ordered an Inka BMW 2002 tii in September 1972. After waiting 5 months, I ended up paying extra for one in a metallic color. Here's my Taiga 2002 tii just before I sold it in September 2002 ...

I have seen a similar green on a Coupe S with a black top on a parking lot about a week ago. It is not a metallic paint but nice.

I think any green color on any British car looks good just because ......it is British.

Yep, agree. The Coupe was a BRG ? Or the rare Laguna Green ? I have seen some coupe tops repainted non factory colors.

I never noticed those 5 spoke JCW wheels were solid between the machined bits. I love that design, but I have to admit I miss the cutouts from the GP1 4 spokes. On another unrelated note, anyone else think its weird that the Gen 3 JCW Aero kit doesn't have scooped sideskirts like the 1st and 2nd gens?

Back on topic, BMW's new Pyrite color would be my choice if they were to bring anything over to MINI's. As for why they charge $1000 for the non-metallic Rebel, it's entirely for product differentiation and exclusivity. They charge the same "luxury tax" for Lapisluxury Blue, which is another non-metallic, and previously the "High Class Grey" as if the name itself wasn't a dead giveaway for what their marketing department was going for...
