Engine Ice?

So i also ride motorcycles and there are the Engine Ice and Water Wetter products that actually allow the engine to run cooler temps just by changing out the Anti-Freeze. IDK if this question has ever been asked before but has anyone ever done it to a Mini? I mean in aspects they relate to street bikes in the way of cramming an engine into a frame and having tiny radiators to cool them.

Im in Florida and with the temps/ stop&go traffic i feel this could be a good idea, although maybe a bit costly considering a half gallon costs anywhere from $18-25.

I used redline water wetter... I get mid to low 190's average water temps... So probably a few degrees cooler than what I was getting before in the upper 190's..

The misnomer about water wetter is that it lowers coolant temp. That's not what it really is designed to do. What it does is allow a more even transmission of heat thru the cooling system of your car and the components of that system. Think of it like this. A car starts, heats up, thermostat opens, cools engine, closes, and rinse repeat. Water wetter allows for a longer time between thermostat opening as at a more consistent temp throughout the entire cooling system hence avoiding hot spots and heat soak and other detrimental cooling issues know to plague combustion engines. The longer an ann engine stays at a constant temp the more stable it is and efficient it can be. A minor by product is a slightly lower temp reading

And yes I use water wetter in my mini

I use WaterWetter in TRACKRAT with distilled water and only 5-10% MINI coolant because the last thing you want to have happen on track is to have a hose burst and spin in your own "juices or have a friend spin because you dumped coolant.

Water Wetter is fairly cheap and effective. It chemically allows the fluid to transfer heat more efficiently. There is no reason not to use it.

A lower thermostat doesn't accomplish the same thing. That would negatively affect the car during street use as it would not get up to temp on short trips or in cold weather. When it's hot it wouldn't make the car cool any better. Plus it is much more difficult to change the thermo vs. dumping in a little bottle of Water Wetter.

I've raced for many years. Purple Ice or Water Wetter are great products. If you run only distilled water make sure you add these products as they add the lubrication needed and anti corrosion properties.
