R53 JCW brake and rotor ?s

I have a 2006 Mini Cooper s JCW. Trying to find a solid set of slotted rotors while keeping the cost down. Also want a set of break pads as well.

What is the cheapest yet best break pad and rotor kit I can buy?

Are my rear brakes different than a standard s model?

Since I have the JCW brake kit. Or the same?

Do I have to replace a brake sensor when I do this? The only video I could find was on minimania's you tube page but it didn't show a sensor.

Assuming by solid set of slotted rotors, you mean decent, I'd go with a set of these;

If you're careful, the sensor can be re-used. Even if you break the adapter, just use a tie-wrap and get it out of the way. When you rotate your tires, just take a look at the pad wear. Sensors are for the clue-less. Yes, the rears are the same as R53. Before we go suggesting pads, what are you going to be doing with the car? Cruising, curve-carving, autocrossing or track duty? Big difference in pad selection. FWIW, I use plain old cheap, solid rotors for track duty and they work just as well as the slotted versions.

Just daily driving. I don't necessarily need slotted rotors. Just looking for basic replacement parts. Drilled and slotted rotors would be nice though if I can find all 4 for a good price. Can't seem to find an all in one kit though.

Look at centric premium or centric high carbon premium rotors...
Good $$, good quality...know folks who run then on the track, they stand up...

Pads...a million option....pick ones that suit your needs...don't be tempted to "upgrade" above how you actually drive or you will end up with a pad with little cold bite and that is noisy, that may might eat rotors....
For me, akenebonoo euro was right...took a bit of time to develop a nice feel, but a good street pad, dust free...
One tip...rotors with groves cut in them often whirr and many eat pads faster...sounds like $$ is an option...fancy looking rotors are a pure poser option on all but the highest end rotors...so you are not fooling anybody with them...I'd keep them off all but a all show, no go display car unless you have bigger $$$ to spend.

We like to install the Powerslot slotted rotors and Hawk HPS Pads for spirited street driving on a budget.

Not really, some people don't have the time, knowledge or inclination to do this. And when someone else buys a car who doesn't know about this stuff they benefit by having all systems go. It is a freakin $20 part.

We have some options here: We have the ECS Geomet Coated Slotted Rotors.

Looks for the JCW Brakes " For John Cooper Works kit " ( Since you say have the red JCW front caliper w/ the JCW Logo ). Another way to check is the front rotor size 11.57" (294x22 mm) . The Rears are the same size as the S. Front of course are larger then the S.

Also for 2006 , there was a part split in 7/2006, so keep and eye out for that. Use your production date and you should be fine.

Full brake service kits here with pads , sensors, rotor screw. Everything to complete the job. Our Performance kits come with the Hawk HPS pads. Our Regualr kits come with Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads .

Not meaning to flame anyone but folks are here on NAM to learn about what makes their cars tick. Even with the wheels on, using an inspection mirror and a flashlight, you can check all four calipers for brake wear in less than 5 minutes. It can also be done when rotating tires every 5,000 miles. People shouldn't entirely depend on warning lights. In the case of brake pad wear sensors, they're just on diagonally opposite wheels and the others are not, so even with the sensors, they're not fool-proof.

I love the hawk pads so much when I had them on my r53 that I took off the stockers from my r52 with only 10k miles on them. That was last yeAr, and yes, it was that big of a difference

I changed my '05 r53 (non-jcw) front rotors to drilled and slotted. I just bought a used JCW front brake (calipers, pads, lines, rotors) - not installed currently.
So are you saying i can use my front rotors(which i have one currently) on my rear?
I was told the stock r53 front rotors are different from the rear so they wouldn't work.

*confused*

Does anyone have the part numbers for the Hawk and or Greenstuff brake pads for the JCW? Also, the part numbers for non-slotted or drilled rotors?
