I took a new jcw front bumper to get painted at a shop and gave him my vin, but he told me there's around 5 different shades to the same color. By the vin how do I find out the shade?

There are a couple places on the car where the actual paint code is located. Year models may vary but on my 08, there is a code in a sticker label around the passengers side strut tower. I also think there is one on or near the plate on the door jamb, drivers side where the tire inflation information is. That is what your paint guy needs. a paint code is a specific color. A good paint guy will match it very closely.
You could also call the dealer with your vin last 7 digits and they can tell you what your paint code is.
From your picture it is kind of hard to tell, but it looks like Dark Silver Metallic. That paint code is 871.
Not sure what to tell you at this point, but I can tell you this. I've had two bumpers painted - aero kit upgrades months apart. Each time I took the cover from the front tow hook from the original bumper with me to the paint shop with the bumper to be painted and both times I have a perfect match.
