Can a dealer upgrade my 03' JCW tune??
I've got an 03' JCW MCS. I heard that the 04' or 05'+ JCW's had a different/better tune. Can a dealer update the 03' JCW tune to one of the newer JCW tunes? I think the only different on the 03' JCW's was the tune, lack of 380cc injectors, and no JCW airbox.
Just trying to see if there is an easy way to get a little more power out of my JCW without too much money/time.
Just looking for some details.
Thanks!

Yes a dealer should be able to put the JCW tune on it especially since you have a JCW. But without the additional parts like you mentioned, they might require it to do it.
You have
2005 Facotry JCWs had all of this done to them from the factory
- Machined Cylinder Head
- Supercharger with Reduction Pulley
- NGK BKR7EQUP Spark Plugs
- Cat-back Exhaust
- ECU Remap
- Intercooler Cover
- Front and Rear Badges
- Air Intake
- 380cc Fuel Injectors
- ECU Remap

It’s already got the JCW tune….but it’s the 2003 version of the tune. I’ve got an aftermarket CAI, but I haven’t put in 380cc injectors….that’s the only remaining item that would make it the same as the 05’ JCW cars.
Will having the dealer upgrade my 2003 JCW tune to the 2005 JCW tune do anything? Will it cause problems if I don’t install 380cc injectors? Will going with the 2005 JCW tune and installing the 380cc injectors make any more power, or would it be a waste of money?
Also, if I talk to the dealer…is that a certain number they use to reference the 2005 JCW tune?? Or do I just say “Hey, can you guys upgrade my 2003 JCW tune to the 2005 JCW tune?”.
Thanks for all of the information.

The tune adds 10bhp. So is it worth it to you to get the injectors and the ECU reprogrammed? Only you can decide. Just call a couple of dealers as some won't do it and see what they charge and what they say they will do.
I finally decided to upgrade to the 05' JCW tune.....but the closest MINI dealer to me is telling me at all JCW ECU tunes are the same, and that there is nothing different from an 03’ JCW compared to any of the others. I explained to him about the intake and injectors, but he just wasn’t listening.
Can someone give me some more specifics on the 05’ Tune….is there any kind of MINI part#, tune #, or service # that talks about the 05’ JCW tune? I would like to have some specifics and more details when I try to call back and talk to the guy.

That's my problem......it seems impossible to find any of the MINI dealers that know anything about the 1st get R53 minis. When you start talking to them about JCW kits, JCW tunes, 200 vs 210 tunes, 380cc injectors.....they just go dumb. very frustrating....
Just get it tuned by one of the dedicated aftermarket tuners. You'll get better results (i.e. smoother engine, and more power than any canned JCW ECU tune), and you can tailor it exactly to what mods you have/want.
Without going to larger injectors, IMHO it's a waste of time and money to pay the dealer to flash the JCW map; I doubt you'll even be able to notice the difference between what you have now and another 10 HP (which is optimistic anyway, I doubt you'll get even 10). A custom tune will do light years more for your car.
