No JCW coupe or cooper production for 2013?
Hey everyone
So I just came out of a dealer wanting to order a JCW coupe with my own options and not what they have in stock. And sale person told me that I can't order a JCW because production has stop for this years new model. Nor cant order the 2013 because they won't make it to make space for the new models. I was wtf, I'm always reading about mini and never heard that.
The jcw's that they had in stock all had a big sign That said mark up, with an amount of about $3k. Because there the last jcw of the R5x models.
Has anyone heard this at there dealers or is this true that their wont be a 2013 model? I was so excited thinking they were going to have that new engine for the jcw like they did for the new mini coopers.

No...no BS.....
New Federally mandated lower crash bar behind the front bumper facia prevents the ability to mount the JCW Aero kits, a OEM crash part for all models now. Also mean any MINI manufactured after March 2012 cannot have the currently designed Aero Kit installed.
You will not be able to order a JCW until Sept (I think ?) By that time a new Aero Kit front Bumper will be available.

^^^ That's what I figure that this person wanted me just to buy what they currently had in stock. Because he did mention that I could still order a cooper or cooper S, which didn't make sense to me why would mini not produce a jcw for next year, but would still produce the normal ones.
So basically their place them on hold until September until they figure a way to add a new jcw areo bumper, which isn't bad me. I can wait a few months, (especially with a more refined engine coming out) but just wanted to make sure that this wasn't true and not jump on the so call last jcw every made like he mentioned.

I think if you also read Motoring file, all 2013 JCW's will be getting a different motor of sorts with new Valvetronic components in them achieving the same power and 42.6mpg in the Coupe. I would say is is worth your wait.

I have a copy of the 2013 MINI JCW Ordering Guide in front of me, dated June 1, 2012. SOP (start of production) is listed as July 2012 for the JCW R56 hardtop.
The document shows code 3A1 John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit as standard. There are a few other interesting updates for MY13, some with delayed release, but nothing unusual about the body kit is indicated.

Only reason why odering was holted was due to recent Federal Crash bar mandate and aero kit not fitting over it.
Since the JCW aero package is "standard equipment" for this model there will be no more 2012 JCW's built this year....and the Aero kit II from aftersales will not fit an R56 which has already been delivered and manufactured with that crash bar.
At present cannot even order an R56 with an aero kit....

lol yeah, I meant May
Announcement came out Friday.
I built this one and we recieved it about same time as you probably. Then tried to build another and the code for the aero kit was deleted from the system.
Last Friday the bulletin was released revealing why the aero kit code was removed.

I can't wait for the placing of 2013 ordering starts. I'm ready get my order going.
I did a search about reviews and other cars that are competive or similar price. A few that I saw were similar price and sportier, but I can't see myself driving one and maybe the jcw coupe is not the cheapest nor fast, but their so much fun. And I can't see myself ordering something less than a jcw. I'm probably to going to order the recaro seats as well. I always wanted seats more sportiers than stocks. So I'm going to add everything the way I wanted, especially all the carbon fiber components on the exterior expect mirrors because I like the red mirror cover.
Quick question. With this new frame bumper their adding, will that add more weight and will the front areo bumper look different than the current jcw areo bumper?
