Air Leak In JCW Airbox

Hi all,

I really need a help of original JCW owners here, I'm working on an air leak issue since a long time. I have been changing part after another. Still it is not fixed. Now, here's what I found out:

The below parts are suck or vacuum hoses going out of JCW intake, the second one is a "Y" shaped hose. One end (long) goes from the JCW, the other to a manifold
that is after the throttle body.

13717558378
13717557877

Below is the part number where one end of the "Y" shaped hose goes to
17517541463

Now, the issue is the third end (short) of the "Y" shaped hose is left open and not connected.

Can you please tell me where is it supposed to be connected? Or is it the cause of the problem?

I really have no one to help troubleshooting this! Maybe JCW owners can tell me where is that "Y" hose connected to on the 3 ends.

On my set up, that T's off behind and under the right side IC horn. Not easy to see unless you remove the intercooler, which is pretty easy to do.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Any part number or picture please? My car is not JCW originally and there's a big chance I'm missing some parts.

The jcw air box is mostly just a filterbox...
The vac lines on it are openand close the flap on the back...to add some extra air and sound....a popular mod is removing tha vac controled flap..or jamming it open..

From what I know is the flap opens digitally by power at 4500RPM with a signal sent from ECU.

Buttom line, I have an air leak and I'm dying to solve it...

air leak

On My JCW that little vacume connector is on the vacume line that that goes to the bypass valve There was a T placed in that line then the part you have circled was attached to it.

That is exactly what the skemstic shows...the bypass valve is grayed out since it is not part of the kit...

If you follow the skematic, you will see the vac line goes to the valve that opens and closes the rear flap...electrically activated, vac operated. Few folks has the change to the computer to activate this feature...the reason it is usually locked open....

Thanks a lot for bearing with me and reaching to this level. Can you please give me the part number that is connected to this open end? I'm sure I have to buy some parts to close this air circuit...

You should be able to simply plug it back in....
if it was not orgionaly installed right, you may need to t the vac scource....
If this line is not connected...no issue....the bypass valve line is the scource of the vac...if it is connected, the flapped on the back of the airbox simply cannot open...
It seems likly that it slipped off the t connector...giving you a leak....just plug it back in. No parts needed.

air leak

Just get a plastic T fitting that will fit the hose. you will have to cut the hose goining to the last part you circled then place T in line and add the hose to the air cleaner. It will require you to take some other parts off to get to the bypass valve. You can look on Nam for How to replace Bypass valve instructions, this will give you an idea what needs to be done. unlees youcan easily get to th BPV.

Air leak

Zippy NH is correct if it was origionally hooked up if not you can do it the way I Said. We both come up with the same final outcome.

Thanks a lot guys. You have been of great help! You really have no idea how many parts I got ordered for this air leak issue. I found the valve and I think the hose fits perfect there. The car is still warm so I have to do it tomorrow maybe. I'm not sure if this will solve my problem.

My issue was, I had a huge difference in reading between air mass sensor 1 (maybe in the JCW intake control unit) and air mass sensor 2 (maybe in the throttle body). I still have to wait for some parts to come in before I data log my car and live happily that leakage is solved...

Wish me luck!

I have this problem also, but I can't quite see where the end needs to go. Do I pretty much have to take off the intercooler?
