Talked to my dealership's service manager yesterday about the upcoming JCW seats. She thinks they're going to cost about $2200 apiece. Not a pair, apiece! $4400 for both fronts. Yikes! I was thinking about them, but at that price, I doubt I'll be able to swing it. They're available outside of the USA w/out the airbags, though I don't know for how much. The airbag upgrade is apparently what's pushing the price so high.

Two seats for the price of the tuning kit? :???: Hmmm, fishy. If that's truly the case, I'll keep my OEM seats thank you very much!

no - the wheels have a dealer price of 250 each and they retail for 360 or 380 (I can't quite remember)

So we can now order the seats and JCW wheels in the US?
Pretty hefty price there. You could do custom seats for less-no airbag though.
I guess we all can have $40,000 MINIs.

MINI needs to offer a hotted up MINI from the Factory (not this JCW factory authorized / dealer installed stuff).

I'm thinking of something similar to the VW R32.

I really hope that that price is incorrect and that they will offer air-bag equipped JCW seats for a more reasonable price. I would club a baby seal if there was an affordable way to get serious sport seats without having to worry about any insurance hassles brought about by my removing safety equipment.

Holy Cow! That is $4400 for the seats and probably figure $100 for the installation. That is 23% of the cost of a new Cooper S. That is ridiculous. But wait, what am I thinking. They are covered under warranty. Stupid me. They are much more reasonable now. Through in the JCW wheels at $380 a piece and the tuning kit at $5500 installed, and you could spend 60% on the cost of the complete JCW package. I can't wait until the brakes come out. They will probably be $4000.

Anyone know what a stock sport seat costs? With the airbag, I bet they're well over a grand apiece.

For the sake of it let's say you get the JCW Kit, Seats and Wheels.

Cost:
~$6000 for the JCW Kit installed
$4400 for the seats + another $100 to $200 for the labor
$1400 for the wheels

So roughly $12,000 worth of JCW stuff (oh, plus you need to buy 18" tires).

Parts:
- MINI/JCW takes your head and supercharger back as core exchange.
- I gather you get to keep your stock exhaust if you want it
- Plus you also have an extra set of sport seats and 4 wheels in your garage

Wouldn't it just be a whole hell of a lot better if MINI just offered JCW options from the factory (not to mention making it nicer for JCW MINIs in autocross that way - you'd have a shot at a stock class that way and not end up in freakin Street Mod.)

It would certainly be better for the consumer. However, the dealerships would lose money since all this extra labor is helping them to recoup their investment for their dealerships. And that's the rub.

The mini sport seats standard, are about 800 dollars a peice, from the factory.

I looked into this, because i wanted to put sport seats in my truck, but i found a local mini owner who was upgrading his seats, and got his sports seats for a good price.

Sure would be great if MINI took your advice- I completely agree. I guess the only possible way to look at this is that a 35k MINI (about what mine would cost w/ desired options + the seats and wheels) is still a MINI, but now we're into or beyond the range of Infinity G35, Nissan 350Z, Honda S200, and some other very potent performers, just to retain the warranty. IF the package came like the MINI Mania's newest modded MINI- 245 BHP, 0 to 60 in 5.9 sec w/ seriously upgraded suspension- then it would be no contest.

So if the stock seats are $800, then that makes the JCW $1400 more. You could still buy some nice Sparco's and the stock seats together and still be a lot cheaper off. There is absolutely nothing at all that explains the cost of the seats except for pure greed and profit from JCW, BMW and the dealership. I think the whole JCW/BMW collaboration is just screwing all of us.

I agree. IF the full JCW MCS (kit, wheels, seats) were sold for say $28,995 plus options then they would loose the wasted double install effort of the upgrade parts and labor-maybe worth as much as $4000-5000 of rework.

Bring on the factory DINAN MCS- I bet they could do quite a bit for $29K. How about a factory DINAN MC for $23K.
Not only the performance kit but wheels, suspension upgrades, seats, etc.

Just dreaming-nobody wake me up.

They're $2200 for the pair not each and that'll be for the full leather. The 1/2 leather/standard cloth should be cheaper.

They're Konig seats. You can get them for the Mini, try doing a search.

$2200 Ouch, that's painful!

I might have to reconsider my decision.

That's about right. So why's no one interested in my sport seats for 650/pair?

Seems reasonable?

Someone buy them from me pleeeeeaaasse so I can get these:

These are leather at $1200 a piece without hardware.

I'd buy your sport seats - except I need the heaters. One reason I haven't gone Recaro or Sparco is because of the heated seat issue. Call me a wuss or whatever you like, but I like 'em on single digit days. And my wife would truly question my sanity for "upgrading" to non - heated sport seats.

I also had seen at least one person advertising their sport seats for maybe $400-450 a pair from their MCS on MINI2 at one point as well...

2 jcw seats (at 4400 plus install most likely) cost about 1/4 the cost of a Mini cooper S

Another reason why the JCW kit is a waste of Money.

They indicated that the seats would NOT be available in the US.
